Happy Cinco de Mayo!

PostAuthor: jingjai » May 5, 2007, 3:30 pm

Today is Cinco de Mayo (Mexican Independance Day)!
I am lucky that it falls on the same day as my wife's birthday, that way I never forget her b'day.
Break out the tequila, tortillas & salsa!

Happy birthday to your wife from me and Kay, and happy Cinco de Mayo. Don't know about tortillas & salsa, but plenty of Margaritas at Nongs tonight.

there's the usually officially unofficial monthly meeting this evening, late notice, which, due to mutually thinking, seems to be starting at Nong's Original Ribs, info on site, instead of the night market, especially since the weather may not cooperate this evening. this will apparently double as a Cinco de Mayo celebration, as margaritas are offered at a reasonable price, and like minds have already decided to show up and sample. anytime after 6 pm is a ball park time to get started. bit more info on nong rib and monthly meeting threads.

hope to see you there. 8)

Don't mean to be picky but Cinco de Mayo is not Mexican Independence day.

Thanks for the site jetdoc. I learned something, and I got a few good recipes for menudo. Growing up in California I ate it frequently, and it is, like the website says, a great hangover cure.

In 22 years, never seen such a low key and quiet Cinco de mayo in Chicago. Local Hispanics say that they are afraid to be caught by Immigration+Police while being incapacited... drunk :?

Any excuse to eat Mexican food is okay by me. I love the stuff. In fact, the past couple of evenings I've prepared tostados and burritos for dinner. Still have a little home made salsa and tortillas left, but will have to purchase or make some more frejolies. A little re-fried beans seems to make almost any Mexican dish better.

I have always wanted to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, but could never remember what day it was. :-k :D
