Just received instructions to market Harley O'Toole's Bar on Soi Sampan. John has decided to move on to Laos which has led him to sell the bar.

We are pleased to be able to offer for sale this large bar which is located right in the middle of Udon Thani's busiest night life area. Having undergone extensive renovation and refitting. Since someone queried the price of nongs ribs restaurant with their selling price I thought would just like to get clarification on the price here,sure rent paid up to next year and fixtures and fittings but does the price include any goodwill since it opened not long ago? Will the seller show bills to show the expense spent?
Wish him well in Laos,can the bar be turned into a restaurant or are there restrictions imposed by the landlord as to what the premises can be used for?

A copy of the lease is available for inspection upon request. There are no restrictions as to the type of business that can be conducted from the premises.

Regarding Goodwill, there are those that beleive there is a value to be held and there are those who don't. I'm sure John would be happy to go through the itemised costs of setting up the business, but what value does one put on the purchase of a finished product as opposed to a renovation project? And what of location, are there any other suitable premises in a comparable location. I believe that this is where a portion of the value lies, and I am confident the new owner will also appreciate this value.

I hope it can be retained in the same format, I had quite a few good evenings there.

Sorry to have to say the bar cannot have any goodwill...... I have passed it many times but never seen any customers! Only ever seen a couple of female staff sitting bored to tears. Never wanted to go in and sit alone and have a drink.

you say good location,i could not find it,been in most other bars,i asked several people ,they not know either,is it near irish clock or mojos way,you say in heart of night life,could not see it on udon map either

The Orange Moon is quite a bit farther up the street on the same side as Harleys.
Directly opposite The Clock is the Chinese Shop, Harleys is right next door to that, going away from Meeting Point.

Harley O'Toole's Bar has now been sold by John, to an American gentleman.
The bar is currently closed, but I guess will be re-opening soon...

As a "VERY WILD WEST" saloon perhaps?

i didn't think anyone could be that naive. 30 k rent a month is too much, let alone the sale price, no matter how much negotiated down. there really is one born every minute.

i really thought that would go the same as molly mallones, as in nobody dumb enough to buy it...........proved wrong again.

have to tip my hat to UPAL, if you can sell that, you can sell anything. i personally wouldn't of accepted that for free. i'm guessing you have to sell 2000 baht of beer a day, at 100 % profit, just to pay the rent. haven't paid the staff, utilities, or build a kitchen for food service.

Rumour has it, it's a friend of mssrs Hicks and Gillett. Having seen how much they lost on Liverpool FC he thought it was cheaper to by a bar in Udon for a bit of Fun
