Hatton versus Pacquiao

PostAuthor: Shado » April 23, 2009, 1:05 pm

Ricky Hatton and Manny Pacquiao will fight for the IBO Junior Welterweight title in Las Vagas on 2 May. I believe it will be telecast on True Vision, Sunday morning 3 May here in Thailand. Should be a heck of a fight. Both are straight ahead fighters and both have good hand speed with power.

I like the Pacman and enjoy his fights but think he's a little overmatched in this one. Still remember a powerful shot to the liver that Hatton gave to Juan Luis Castillo in one of his title fights which sent his opponent to the canvas and he was counted out. This will be a battle but look for Hatton to knock out Pacquiao in the middle rounds. JMHO. :-$

Hatton is the defending champion. Pacman is the favorite. Should be a good fight.

Certainly should be a good fight.
Hatton defeated 1 in 46 fights - by Floyd Mayweather - whose father now coaches Ricky. He has beaten some greats in boxing, although, many would claim, not until they were past their best!!.
Pacquiao has only fought once at this weight (last fight to De La Hoya) so could find Ricky a real handful.
However he is a VERY strong favourite with the bookies to win.
BBC have him as the best 'pound for pound' fighter on the planet..

Unless Hatton has learnt some hard lessons from the Mayweather fight I expect Pacquiao to win. but could be closer than the bookies think - Hatton hits to hurt & none that he has managed to hit have survived too many rounds...

Yes. Free for Gold and Platinum customers on Chan 63 (TrueSport 5). Fight card usually starts at 9am with main event an hour or two later. Fight should be a classic. These two guys won't be going in there to practice their dance steps.

Not expensive to watch even if you're a regular subscriber. 150 or 300 baht. I can remember paying 50-60 dollars to watch PPV fights in the states.

Sure glad Fatton did wake up after that punch. Guess he'll be out shopping for new duds in the morning.

Yeah, surprised me, too. Hatton has been a great fighter and champion. Maybe he can come back from it. Others have. Pacquiao? Wow. Never realized he had that much punching power. Thought Mayweather would take out both Manny and Hatton but can now see Pacman doing the same to Floyd Jr. =D>

vlad when I saw hatton stretched out on the floor of the ring I thought they were going to defibrillate
him he was out I saw Boxers get knock out before seldom like that and when I did see it. It always was in the heavy & super heavy weights not light & middle weigh classes. also Hatton was never knock down until this fight some thing to think about

Pacquiao dismantled David Diaz and Oscar De La Hoya in his previous two title fights; both are two very good fighters. He just didn't win, he dominated both opponents with surgical-like skill.

I was not not surprised by the way he dominated Ricky Hatton, but I was a bit surprised that Hatton didn't make a better showing. Manny Pacquiao has to be regarded and the best pound for pound boxer currently active. Although some are already saying he is the best ever, I think it is a bit too soon to make that declaration. Undoubtly he is one of the greatest. It is just fun to watch him fight!

Pacquiao has three losses on his record. One of those losses was to a Thai fighter from Roi Et. In 1999 Medgoen Singurat knocked out Manny in the third round of their WBA World Flyweight bout. Manny just seems to improve with age.
