I did find a Thai health insurance company for the over 60's. Not bad benefits but when I had to claim for hospital treatment they refused to reinsure me. Other attempts to find a good Thai insurance company have proved fruitless. I know that bupa are willing but I'd have to take out a mortgage to pay the premium.
I have however taken out accident insurance with the SCB at 2600 baht per year which seems pretty reasonable

I believe AIA does the same type of accident insurance.

Having looked at health and accident insurance, and policies offered by the ever-helpful Tony at einsurethailand, I concluded that most of the policies are so limited and exclude so much as to be a very poor value. In the end, I opted for a small policy that would get me into the door at a hospital in case I had an accident or an incident and didn't happen to have 100k baht in my ATM account at the time.

The amount of cover depends on which plan you decide to take. May I suggest you visit any SCB they have a leaflet with all the premiums and benefits on it

Khun Paul,

I am most interested in the outcome of your next meeting with the Administrators. I am currently 63 and looking for medical coverage that extends beyond 65 at a reasonable cost.

I was also hoping to read more from Khun Paul or Mortiboy on this scheme.

Decided to go and speak with John at Paolo Hospital personally so dropped in last Monday but the news wasn't encouraging. John, a Thai gent, speaks English fluently and advised that the health plan, now discontinued, that they offered consisted of a series of discounts for their various services. He did mention that he is investigating "other" health insurance plans for those over the age of 60. He added my name to his list but have heard nothing from him, so far. I'm not going to hold my breath on this since that could be detrimental to one's health, I suppose.

Hi,
Have the accident insurance from SCB, this is my third year now. Daughter had M/C accident, no problem, three days in Paolo insurance took care of it. There are two types of policy, the cheaper one you pay for the hospital treatment and then claim it back from the SCB or for a extra premium you just go to the hospital, show you card and the SCB pays the hospital, i opted for this, far easier. I also broke three toes last year when swimming in Patts. Treatment in hospital down there no problem.
The only limits they impose is age, 12years to 70years, seeing I'm 68 i asked the SCB what will happen in two years time, they said they could sort something out for me.
Cheers Doug.

Hi Doug
How much do you pay for this? and is the price age related??

Thanks
