Help Needed for visa run to Laos

PostAuthor: Bread Man » November 3, 2008, 4:24 pm

Sorry to ask what so many other people must have asked but I need to know. I am fed up with keeping 8000,00 baht in a Bank and have other ways to invest surplus cash, no questions asked. But after going to NongKhai so many times and showing them the bank statements etc, I would like to know the procedure for going to Laos for two days and getting a 90 day or 6 month visa for Thailand. I know that I have to spend the night there as the visa is issued the next day but can someone please tell me the cost of the visa, where I go to the Thai embassy and where is a good hotel? and the cost. Also, sorry to be a pain, what papers apart from my Thai Marriage paper does the Thai embassy need in Laos?

Thank you ..... happy baking! :fryingpan:

breadman,

If you are married, you do not have to show 80,000 in the bank, all you have to do is present your marriage certificate, a signed copy of your wife's ID Card, A copy of your passport, a copy of your wife's housebook, a copy of your marriage certificate, I think that is all.

Once you have the non Im O 90 day visa, you can then apply for a 1 year supporting spouse visa, this must be applied for in the final 30 days of your 90 day non Im O visa.

The cost of the 90 day visa is 2,000 Baht.

If you have any questions, PM me and I'll be happy to give any help you require.

All the best

Ralph, I think Breadman also has to show a monthly income of 40k baht. not sure as I am on a retirement extension.

John, he will not need to prove 40,000 to get his 90 day Non Im O Visa, only when he applies for a yearly Supporting Spouse Visa (Marriage).

You go to the Thai Embassy, near the Patuxai. Make sure you get there early as the queues are long and the Embassy is very unfriendly in providing shelter from sun, rain etc. Be prepared for queue jumpers.
Hotel? Well there are a number ranging in cost. I like Lao Orchid or the Riverside, or if you prefer a lovely guesthous, the Villa Manoly is an old French colonial mansion. Be aware that it is That Luang festival staring this week and there will be loads of people.

You don't need to stay overnight if you use the (non-official) "express service" outside ;) Providing all your paperwork is in order you can have any visa done and dusted in a day.
