Help with Visa please

Hi , I am going to Udon Thani in March and I would like to know the best way to get extensions to a 12 months marriage visa , it has been sugested I go for a multiple-entry non-O visa for 90days .

How do I extend and where and can I keep doing this indefinately . I have no deposit of 800,000 but I have intentions of building a business with my Thai wife and If possible I will teach english .

Do I have to come back to the uk each year , Also it was mentioned that I can extend to a maximum of 15 months . Does this mean I have to leave Thailand after this 15 months .

After you are settled in Thailand,simply go to the nearest Immigration and apply for your change of visa.If yoo want a yearly visa
you will have to show that you meet the requirements financially.You can do that by opening a bank account and transferring baht 40K into it each month if needed or show a combined income of 40K a month!
Although there is some inconvenienced involved by the lack of requirement standards practiced by individual Immigration offices,you can overcome them with getting a list of the paperwork required when you apply for the change of visa at the office of your choice!

There is absolutely no need to pay an outside agency for anything.It is a very simple process if you can meet the financial requirements when you apply.

If you have 15 months from a multiple entry,you will have plenty of time to get it together!Don't waste anyenergy worrying!

All will depend on if I can get a job . So can you remind me please , how I achieve 15months with no proven income . And do I have to leave the country after the 15 months for example go to Loas ) to get another 90 days and so on every three months . Also can I do this indefinately .

If your intention is to get a the 12 month marriage extension you don't require a Multi-Entry Non-O visa, just a get a single entry Non-O. The single entry is good for 90 days and you may extend it for 12 months after 60 days (during the last 30 days of the visas validity) and it will save you some money. Unless you plan to travel in & out of Thailand or you want to "test the waters" before making the plunge than a Multi-Entry will benefit you. It will also benefit it you if you can't prove a source of income. You will be required to make a visa run every 90 days until the visa expires. When the multi entry expires, you have several options:

1. Extend it for a 30 day tourist visa.
2. Extend it for 12 months based on marriage.
3. Apply for a Single Entry Non O outside of Thailand (Laos, Burma, Singapore etc).
4. Return to the UK and apply for another Multi Entry (based from what I've read you may only obtain this visa from your home country).

You don't say where your from in the UK, but from reading various posting on the subject the Royal Thai consulate in Hull seems to be customer friendly and you should be able to obtain a visa hassle free. Best to go to their website and do a little research, especially about work permits because you're going to require one if you want to work here.

1. No requirement to show proof of income on a Multi-Entry Non-O if obtained from Hull, not sure about other consulates in the UK.

2. You make a border/visa run every 90 days up to the visa validity , so you may not do this indefinitely on the same visa. So either you have to apply for a single entry non-O from a neighboring country or return to your home country for a multi-entry.

I should be out at the end of march , ready for the Songkran , but on a mission to find work as well . I have just been checking the flights , but I can not book untill nearer the time as I wanted an open ticket for a year . I can book a single fare from uk to Thailand but I wanted a fail safe just in case everything goes pear shaped . ....Any experience ?

Also can you tell me the cost of this each time I go to Loas .

Edited,just re read that you have no money but intend to hopefully get a working visa to teach English and hopefully start a business from the salary.

Best stick with a working visa when you get the work after your initial 1 year O visa 'visiting relatives/friends'.Best of luck on your new venture here.

When dealing with Thai immigration nothing is absolute. It's quite possible that you can remain here on back to back Non "O" visas. I haven't seen anything in writing to the contrary and even considered this option myself at one time. Finally, keep in mind that the immigration officials reserve the right to ask for anything else in support of your application.

The requirements are:

1. Copy of marriage certificate.
2. Copy of wifes national ID.
3. Copy of wifes house book.
4 (2) passport photos

The the cost of the Non "O" visa is 2000bt

One night stay in Laos (accomodation, transportation, Laos visa, etc) approx. 2500-3000bt
