I think LA was trying to say pattaya was in the wrong direction for Samui/Phuket.

Thank you for all the feedback, looks like were headed for Cha Am in october, is the weather likely to be similar to udon at that time of year?

let us know how it us, haven't been there in a while, preferred hua hin, in the past, but now head further south. don't know how much time or driving you want to put in. at least 5 yrs since been there. on the main road to beach from hwy, if going the other way inland, there is a local market. if wanting to pic up some fruits and veggies, bbq chicken and sticky rice at local prices. opens early in morning. well, used too anyway.
