How Does A Hot Tub Work

PostAuthor: Kudjap or Bust » July 16, 2007, 4:03 pm

We're looking at building an outdoor hot tub, minus the 'hot' probably..... My question is what sort of pump do they run on? Do they pump the water round similar to a swimming pool but faster obviously or is it air thats pumped into the water.

I've got a builder who can build it and a plumber who can plumb it in, but I need to buy the parts and give the plumber some kind of diagram.

This does seem like a stupid question but I can't find the answer on the net.................and please no massive farting jokes.....

Thanks panick thats excellent information. Sure I can move forward with this project now.

laphanphon - electrician? yep me...... I'm a qualified sparks, have done a lot of household leckie work, I designed the electric set up for our house here and helped the electrician in the installation, he did all the attic work, I wired the fuse panel and outlets, he did the lighting. Outlets in the bathroom, yep have 2 in the master bath and 1 in the second bath, why I have no clue they've never been used as far as I know.

A friend of mine has one. His has no heater and it is quite pleasant to sit in without hot water. His air pump and the water pump are separate but both are plumbed into the same jets.. One can run without the other running. Kids are quite happy with just the air pump running. Some adults are more happy with the air pump shut off and just the water pump running. I prefer both running.

The air pump alone makes loads of bubbles. The kids like the tickle the air bubbles make. With the air pump and the water pump both running the water is really agitated so the people who would rather just relax and talk run only the water pump.

One of the things I have missed the most while living in Thailand is my ''Jacuuzi Hot Tub''!About 2.5 meters in diameter, comfortably seat 8-10 adults with the water covering your shoulders when sitting around the sides and standing in the center.12 individual water jets for the backs and legs!Water force strong enough to give a good deep massage, temp 102-104 F.

All I ever see for sale here are shallow bathtubs with a few jet nozzles!

i am sure you will find some thing similar in Bangkok stan, they even throw in a Female or Male to get to the parts that the jets of water don't,very good for "aching joints" so i have read.

 To each his own beer monkey! We are a different in our approach and motives. If you are quoting me,you might notice that although my name is Stan(stan)and my post is under BKKSTAN,not nkStan!Maybe ,your ''aching joints'' are in need of service as they can capitalize female and male, but not Stan
