Due to a Government excise increase a 9% rise in beer prices was publicised but here in Ban Dung the actual increase has been much more --- 12.9% for large Leo 425 to 480 Baht and a whopping 14.7% for small Tiger 610 to 700 Baht.

I’m thinking the middle man is skimming the cream off the top again!

This should do wonders for the countries tourism woes

Thai GF went to Udon in car yesterday, asked her to get 2 cases of Chang, used to cost me 386 a case, now costs 395 a case, from the same place i always get them, i don't think this is a 9% or higher rise. My way of reading the report is that the duty on beer will be increased to 9% from what is was before, a approx. rise of 2%. I might be wrong on this and stand to be corrected. Will check other outlets when i got to Udon tomorrow.

This is the type of increase I was expecting not what was implemented. ALL the outlets that I know of have levied roughly he same here.

Don't laugh, Paka, you would be surprised at the amount of Farang traffic we get through here. Be it I'm sure half of em are lost or being lead around by the short and curlies by some pretty young thing they met down South. Anyway near on time for an overpriced --

Large Leo has gone up in the local Mom & Paps from 40 to 45 baht...

so can anyone recomend where is the cheepest or best outlet to buy leo, Chang, Singa, Archer?? I will be needing around 30 cases of beer.
I will be having a bit of a party with the family when I get back to Udon on the 14th May

I thought the government put the tax up 2% from 7 to 9% ,it seems the small shops are putting there prices up by over 12%....40 bht up to now 45 bht...for a large leo.at my local shop chang still same price.The price for a box of 12 large chang has gone up about 2% ,which is correct,Leo has gone up nearly 13%....

Knee Soone were selling archar at 23.50 per bottle last week, and as far as I know, same price now!!
