It is interesting a vacation is a vacation and you should have fun. I think this only comes into play when you want it to be a life not a vacation. It is your time enjoy it anyway you want. Just be prepared to put on the brakes if it becomes a full time life.

I take your point Ray, I just guess that it will be my vacational habbits that will categorise me in the eyes of the locals and there is not much i can do about that. As you said, it's my time and it should be enjoyed how i want it to be.

We all need to keep our guard up against those money hungary cheating whores.
I know of many farangs who got royally **** by Thai whores by stealing their farang husband money, land, bank account, house, truck, car, stc, etc. And they were still married to Thai husbands.
Many sad stories. Usually farangs lose their money and property.
Best to keep your commons senses intact.
In due fairness, this happens in farangland as well. Many fools all around the world and don't know how to keep things under control.

You did O.K Allen, When back there in June family asked if they could go to a Buffet. No problem I said and suggested the Bht69 all you can eat next to the Koala bar someone had suggested on the forum a week or so before we got there. I had planned for 8 to 10 including the kids, 3 of which are mine, so as you can imagine when 25 poeple turned up the owner of the place ordered a new pickup over the phone and at the end of the night I forked out just under Bht12,000. All I can say is thank God for the guy who posted that Resteraunt on the forum other wise I dont know how much it could have cost. My wife however know's that this will never happen again, end of argument. Next time you see your Mother in law, give her a big kiss Allen for being so considerate

That was me aardvark regarding the 69baht steak buffet...

but 12000 baht for 25 people must of consumed plenty of liquids around 10000 baht worth  . or are you a big tipper. ???

You are not alone ........

happened to me a few times, the last time it happened was also at the 69baht steak buffet and 6 extras tagged along who procedeed to order beers as if they had never seen it before, they where invited by some of the invitee's....a bear faced cheek !! but my Mrs was livid which is a good sign as don't think it will happen again...or will it !!!
one good thing i did hog a whole tube of beer for my own personnal consumption at my end of the table..

and Irish Alan when it did happen to me last time i too just scraped through on the baht, and you don't exactly enjoy yourself thinking of what the check bin will be, and if you have enough cash to pay, still you could offer to do the washing up. lol

Exactly... And it was that really cute singer with the great legs that sings in Yellow Bird in my favourite mini-dress. :( (Her dress that is not mine).
