Don't set computer monitors too high

Hamburg (dpa) - Computer monitors should rest directly on desktops, not perched atop pedestals or stacks of paper, to facilitate the head's natural inclination to point slightly downward, according to the Management Professional Society (VBG) in Hamburg.

"It's how we read books and newspapers," said Sylke Neumann, a prevention expert with the VBG. The group recommends a 35-degree incline, which should help prevent headaches, shoulder, neck tension and dried out eyes. The upper edge of the monitor should be no higher than eye level. Most LCD screens can be tilted so that the screen image is at eye level, making it easier to watch the monitor.
