I think the flu is going around

PostAuthor: git » March 29, 2009, 1:44 pm

I been down for a week, got out the house fo the first time today in eight days for two hours today and that kicked my tail. Got the flu shot this year for the first time looks to me like they missed on their guess. Whetever it is it's serious this year. Take care of yourselves.

Got friends out ther that live by themsleves and your not hearng from them good idea to give em a call. We seem to be to stupid to ask for help when we need it. Now lets hope I recover in time to ride next weekend, no bets at this point. [-o<

Mine started with a cough and asore throat the then fever hit for eight days staring and that was with antibiotics. Sinus congestion it hit everything it could. Originally I thought it was cold. Fever came and went this morning. Now just down to being weak.

So think I have ridden out the worse.

The older we get the more dangerous this stuff is.

A wise thing to do is to take Paracetamol 500mg x 2 every 4 hours to get the fever under control.

Maintain ur fluid intake - critical ! especially if your age is challenged a little.

Stan is correct, stay away from the AB's they just dont work in virus's

BUT if u start coughing up phlegm , swollen tonsils, ( if you have them still ) NOT swollen lymph glands in the neck region , then the AB's might be worth it.

Remember AB's must be taken for the entire length of the prescibed time, normally 5-7 days.

Just because they work after 3 days, dont stop,as this is what causes resistance and why they dont work after years of administration. It just allows the bug to reappear after 3 days and then the AB wont work effectively.

For the sore thoat ( strep throat ) again a viral issue , good old Strepsils

Hope ur getting over it Git,

Yep well on the way to recovery. Thanks

Ab's are handed out like candy here you do have to be careful about the intake.

Very soud advice wazza, flu or whatever has been goig around for at least the last 2-3 moths in varying forms.
Strepsils are the best for the throat Iagree, and in general many farangs will weather the cold/flu due to their normal resistance goten over the years, however imbibing large quantities of alcohol does tend to lower personal resistance , so apart from advice already given a lessening of the alcohol intake helps to if you are suffering .
yes you are right AB's are treated like sweeties here the less you take the more effective thay will be if taken.

You really have to be paranoid about your health here, I've met 2-3 Thais already that
had active TB, which as you know requires a 6-month course of antibiotics. Now they
have drug resistant strains because folks start taking the meds and then stop. And when
people aren't taking medication, it's vastly more communicable. Agree with Khun Paul,
the strepcils work wonders if the throat is starting to tighten-up. I want a plastic bubble.

I got a flu shot in Oct before coming over, had 3 bad days in Jan, stayed in bed with sore throat and a cough, was fit surprisingly fast thanks to vaccination?

GF was spared this time unlike Januari last year: she had it for 6 weeks!!! and myself for 3 weeks.
She refused the shot though.

Think I may be getting it. Headaches, aching and high temperature this morning. So far the brandy doesn't seem to be working, but still persevering.

Used to have the "jab" regularly in UK (company doctor used to give them out, so easy to do). Ran for about 5 years with no problems, then, 2 years on the trot I went down with it a while after having the shot, so gave up on them after that.
Didn't feel too good for a few weeks a while back, nothing serious, just felt "stuffed up" most of the time, couldn't sleep well at night (which is VERY unusual for me :D ) & just felt tired in the day....even totally gave up the booze to see if that helped. Gradually felt better, I put it down to the sudden change in temperature rather than a bug, but who knows....

Speaking of Flu Posted on Thai Visa scarey as can be:

The sources are listed in the post be your own judge:

Just a few months ago .. anyone catch these stories?

http://www.lifegen.de/newsip/shownews.p ... 123&pc=s01

Deerfield, Illinois-based pharmaceutical company Baxter International Inc. has just been caught shipping live avian flu viruses mixed with vaccine material to medical distributors in 18 countries. The “mistake” (if you can call it that, see below…) was discovered by the National Microbiology Laboratory in Canada. The World Health Organization was alerted and panic spread throughout the vaccine community as health experts asked the obvious question: How could this have happened?
……..
Or, put another way, Baxter is acting a whole lot like a biological terrorism organization these days, sending deadly viral samples around the world. If you mail an envelope full of anthrax to your Senator, you get arrested as a terrorist. So why is Baxter — which mailed samples of a far more deadly viral strain to labs around the world — getting away with saying, essentially, “Oops?”But there’s a bigger question in all this: How could this company have accidentally mixed LIVE avian flu viruses (both H5N1 and H3N2, the human form) in this vaccine material?

Was the viral contamination intentional?
The shocking answer is that this couldn’t have been an accident. Why? Because Baxter International adheres to something called BSL3(Biosafety Level 3) - a set of laboratory safety protocols that prevent the cross-contamination of materials. As explained on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biosaf…):

“Laboratory personnel have specific training in handling pathogenic and potentially lethal agents, and are supervised by competent scientists who are experienced in working with these agents. This is considered a neutral or warm zone. All procedures involving the manipulation of infectious materials are conducted within biological safety cabinets or other physical containment devices, or by personnel wearing appropriate personal protective clothing and equipment. The laboratory has special engineering and design features.”

Air Force 2025 released in 1996 suggests a plausible Avian Flu Pandemic for 2009. Kurt Nimmo writes :

On June 17, 1996, the U.S. Air Force released Air Force 2025, “a study designed to comply with a directive from the chief of staff of the Air Force to examine the concepts, capabilities, and technologies the United States will require to remain the dominant air and space force in the future.” In the unclassified study, the College of Aerospace Doctrine, Research, and Education at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama posed several “fictional representations of future situations/scenarios” likely to arise.

In Chapter 5, the authors present a timeline figure representing “plausible history.” In 2009, according to the figure, influenza will kill 30 million people. “A similar influenza pandemic occurred in the past,” a footnote explains, making a reference to the influenza epidemic of 1918 and 1919, described as “one of the worst human catastrophes on record. It has been estimated that more than 20 million people around the world died during the epidemic, and of the 20 million people who suffered from the illness in the United States, approximately 850,000 died.”

“The influenza virus is unique among viruses in being able to undergo so much antigenic change that an antigenically novel virus can sweep around the world in a year or two, giving rise to significant morbidity and mortality,” another footnote states.

It is interesting to note that the source of the Air Force’s fictional pandemic is described as unknown and it is not “determined if the virus was a natural mutation or bioengineered. Many feared the latter.” (Emphasis added.)

Is it merely a coincidence the Pentagon would propose in 1996 a deadly flu pandemic for 2009 when live H5N1 avian flu viruses are discovered in common flu vaccines produced by a Baxter International plant in Austria?

P.S. Flu vaccines contain thermerosol, which is mercury.. mercury is on MSDS as follows:
