Immigration have done it again! F the Farang.

With the right hand begging for tourism and Farang to come to Thailand -- it looks like the left hand has closed the Re-Entry permit section at Swampyvoom unexpectedly just to make life harder for us. No fore warning, no bloody nothing, if one had have checked in and then wanted a re entry permit he/she was knackered. :fryingpan:

Make sure you get it at Nong Khai or where ever prior to getting to the airport. effen :censored:

I doubt it was done with malice; rather, there was no means by which people could be warned, other than by the notice that had been posted on the door for about a week.

Maybe we can take a lesson from this.

A notice on the wall in each of the 30 or so Imm offices scattered around the country!
A notice in the Bankok Post or other English newspapers!
Notifying Thaivisa.com! and other Thai based, English community forums!

Etc. Etc.

NO. IMO they don't give a shlt.

OH! BTW take a look at this, 5 year visa for 400K Baht :yikes: Would you trust em?

Come on lads! We all know we are not welcome here.If wern't bringing money into the country, they'd kick our buts out pronto! They will eek every baht they can.WE ARE NOT WELCOME HERE! FULL STOP.
Look at Malaysia. 10 year Visa! Not here! Buy house/land? NO !IT IS FOBIDDEN! Complain in certain quarters NO! It is FORBIDDEN!
The formula is,YOU want stay here, you do as we say! or f...off
Cant understand their way of thinking. What is it about us farangs they don't like?
I go to Nong Khai for Visa, same I want the moon?"Must have this must have that! What they think? we criminals ?
IMO it is degrading and a disgrace!
That's my view anyway!

Yesterday morning, Thursday 8 January, I went down to Swampyboom to the sort of off-site Immigration office to look into the possibility of using them for the "retirement" extensions rather than Suan Plu. Bad news, sign on the door said closing 15 Jan. Booo, sure easier to get to than SP.

Went inside to talk to the gals, they said packing up things tomorrow, Friday, forget about the sign. Really nice staff there, asked me a much of Qs like she was almost willing to process my extension right then if I had just a minimum of paper work with me, which I didn't.

So, home I went and gathered up my stack of papers. Got the copying done, and headed down there again real early this morning to see if they'd do the extension before unplugging the computers and packing the pens.

They did, I'm happy to say, but they're still closing. I jokingly complained, they suggested I phone the Commissioner of Immigration Police as they'd also like to stay there, nice facility, if a little awkward to get to.

Signs on the door say go to Immigration at Suan Plu or Samut Prakan. Booo.

Actually that post from 'TV' is about the full service immigration that was located outside the airport terminal (another loss). It was not the re-entry desk that has always been available inside both the new airport and Don Muang when that was the international airport. Immigration has a web site where they can notify people of changes like this. Unfortunately it is seldom updated in a timely manner.

Welcome to UdonMap Lop and thank you for all the advise given to me through the years.

I still think they are wacked, just look at the number of times they have opened and closed the AEK office.
