Income certification

PostAuthor: Ray.Charles » April 20, 2009, 8:00 am

I get a monthly pension from a public company. I have a letter from the company stating that. For my Nonimm O-A, I sent an unattested copy of that letter with my application to the NY consulate, and got my visa in return. Assuming that I would want my visa extension on the basis of income, would I now need embassy 'certification/affidavit' of my income. How would I get it?

once here, yanks are on the honor system. simply go to usa embassey, fill in form, state how much monthly income, and swear to it's truth. notorized and donate 30 bucks to the war / bailout effort, and you have your official immigration income statement. twice a year they make the rounds up to udon/kk, so a trip to bkk isn't always necessary. i've given immigration letters up to 6 months old, other have used older ones. but i get a new one every year. easy process, now.

Where do I find out about the scheduled visits of the embassy folks to Udon?

mak or rito usually beat me to it, couple other guys will post it also. on the usa embassy bkk website, once you find it, a link on there about schedule and you can sign up for email notices.

such as:
http://www.udonmap.com/udonthaniforum/usa-embassy-visit-to-udon-thani-khon-kaen-t13303.html

click on link and you can ask to be added to their email list. i can't find the page that you sign up on, mak - rito ??

this might be it

If you an American traveling or living abroad, you might find it a good idea to register with the Department of State. Not only will you revive occasional potentially helpful email notices from them, but this might help relatives or locate you. That could be good.

Perfect, thanks.
Do you state pre- or post tax income?

It doesn't really matter, no one verifies your income.

Sorry Rito That may be so with your embassy but is certainly not with the UK one. I had to show verifying documents for every penny listed. Obviously a gross figure will look more impressive. They didn't seem to worry about deductions before receipt though.Incidentally when the certificate of income was issued by the embassy they had caried out a criminal check as it said "There is nothing on our records to the detriment of the applicant."

Anyone try using their income certification letter from previous year(s) to get visa extension since the new regime took over at Nong Khai?

Just to make it quite clear . The verification was required by the consular official before giving the certificate . Not the immigration officer.

trust us, we simply tell our embassy what our monthly income is, swear to it, no papaerwork, it's notorized and accepted by thai immigrations as income statement. nothing else is asked for. 400k or 800k min a year. affidavit is a monthly income statement, so they bust out the calculator, not really, they already know, though last time, mine seemed to throw them off for a while. they finally carried that other zero

our only yank perk, simplifies things a bit. it's that special Thai/USA relationship     8)

Not doubting your word for one minute LA. But , doesn't it make a nonsense of the whole process? Why not just lie to immigration.? If you swear an affadivit statement that is knowingly false you can be prosecuted and your visa could be cancelled though. :-"

yes, with that hanging over our heads, keeps my honest. for those avoiding taxes in home country, pleading poverty, this document could also be used against you in your home country as tax evasion. so as always, honesty is the best policy. too many options to stay here, no need to hang yourself.
