IP Addresses

PostAuthor: Kudjap or Bust » June 10, 2008, 12:05 pm

Does my PC have it's own IP address? If so can I mask it without downloading an anonymous IP program?

When I log on to the internet what IP address is forwarded to the websites I visit?

Hi Kudjap

Yes you're right, every pc in your network has an own and unique IP adress. Also your network card has an own and unique MAC adress. In Linux you can mask your IP adress and you can even generate a fake MAC adress. I'm not sure if you can do it in WIndows, and also you didn't specify what operating system you use. If you don't want use IP hide software you can use an Anonymous Proxy Server, you can google for that term and i'm sure you will find what you're looking for.

For your other question, when you log in to the internet, your router forward the IP adress that it will get automatically from your Internet service provider. I hope you understand my english and i hope i could explain to you in few easy words and also could help you. If you are interested in more technical details on IP adresses, MAC adresses, Proxy Servers, subnetmasks etc you can use the wikipedia website, there is a lot of interesting stuff on it.

Regards, Sapparoht

PS: If you want see the details of your IP's in windows xp, click Start, click Run, type in cmd and klick run. in the black box type ipconfig or ipconfig -all for more details.

Hi Kudjap.
If your overly concerned about your IP address you can always use: http://www.Hidemyass.com
Just go to that site & surf the net anonymously from there!

Some really naughty chaps (Of which i'm sure your not one) use this method to view sites currently banned in Thailand!

anyway give it a try, very simple & a lot less hassle than setting up proxy servers with your browser.

yes, it would help with any site not allowed in thailand. especially some download site that don't allow in thailand (company restriction, not gov't) for fear of copying without permission.

Thanks guv'nor, I'll give ity a try. One application I want to mask my IP address for is a live UK TV website, they recognise my IP as international and do not allow viewing, UK IP's only are accepted.

Ah i see!

I have the very same problem when attempting to listen to UK local radio broadcasts of sporting events, football usually! I'm afraid Hidemyass won't help you on this one Kudjap!
Well it never worked for me at least!

You will need to find a proxy server based in the UK! Unfortunately free ones are like finding rocking horse **** i'm afraid!

I have yet to find a decent one in years of searching!

good luck though!

As I recall, hiding or spoofing your IP address is now illegal inside Thailand. Just so you know.

So is prostitution!

There most certainly seems to be no shortage of hookers though! ;)
