In September, 2009 Isara Charity will open a community radio station at it’s Learning Center in Nong Khai, Thailand.
Isara Radio will broadcast not only music but also important educational programming (English and computer lessons) and also public service announcements about health and environmental issues. It will be operated by our Learning Center students, scholarship recipients, and our foreign volunteers. The station will be funded by local sponsors who we will promote on air.
We’re currently in the process of raising funds ($3,000-$5,000) so we can purchase the following equipment:
- 500w-600w FM transmitter
- 12 channel audio mixer
- 30 meter radio tower
- 4-bay FM antennae
- PC Computer
Once the station is broadcasting we will also provide a link for Isara visitors to listen to it online. Stay tuned!
It all looks like quite a feat, so I wish them well.
