My daughter tells me that one of Udon Thani's Korean barbecue places, do a call out service for 250 baht for 4 persons.
The charge includes the use of the grill.
Anyone heard about this?

I live in Romien there are a number of enterprises that you can phone locally who will bring a lit bar b q bucket, the cooking utensil (the one with a "lip" to put the soup into & holes on where you cook the meat - sorry I have no idea of the name of it), soup & a selection of meats or fish & greens/herbs. You then pay & cook & they come back the next day to pick up the equipment.
Prices vary from about 150 baht up - in my experience paying more gets better quality.
TG is not here at the minute so I can't get any phone numbers for you, but the are Thai speaking only & quite small enterprises so I am pretty confident there will be some local to you...

Very enterprising of the Thai's to do this.
A great idea, I doubt very much if it would be allowed to happen in the UK.
Health and Safety, Enviornmental Health, Planning Office, and HM Customs and Excise would all be breathing down your neck.

ha,ha,ha I think a motor bike going down the highway with flames shooting out the back from the on board BBQ would cause heart attacks in many authorities in the UK....

p.s. they usually provide you with an extra little bag of charcoal as well - very useful with these cool evenings...

Prenders, just take a visit to the market...everything you need is on sale and cheap as chips, we even brought one to use back in Uk...when the urge arises.

I have one I bought from the Ideal Home Exhibition, that fits over a gas ring on the cooker. (It seemed a good idea at the time)
You can even take on camping trips, and use on camping stoves, on a muddy, cold, British campsite.
The urge has never arose, not the same feeling as Thailand. The thing is hidden in a cupboard somewhere and has not seen the light of day since 2003.

lol,I know what you mean... next to the Orange Breville sandwich maker, Soda Stream, Bread Maker, Ice Cream maker and various other spur of the moment Kitchen Electrical per-chases.....

I've seen a few groups of Thais sat round a Korean barbecue, like a camp fire, to keep warm recently.

Yes, the Thai get very excited about these barbecues. We have at least one restaurant offering a delivery service up here in Phen. Of course, they are very popular on these chilly evenings. Tasty and very good value. Called Ne Yahng Kowli ? by locals (partner still asleep so can't check I've got that right).
But I'm waiting for one of these mobile fireballs delivering somewhere to meet a very overloaded sugar cane truck. Embers blowing everywhere and whoosh!

Now told it's actually 'neu-uh yahng gow-lee', which translates as ' beef barbecue Korean' to my understanding, but you can get different meats, fish and seafood, I believe.

sorry if off topic a little, but be WARNED !!!
i got back from HUA HIN yesterday 2 days latter than i should have done , thursday evening i went to Korean bbq with friends who live in h/h they use same bbq place weekly . everything seemed fine and clean.
but by 11pm that night i was so sick you would not beleave , after that came the runs ..sitting on toilet for 2 hours at a time used drugs i,d brought over from u.k did,nt help much .
we had to book hotel room for extra 2 day and change train tickets there was NO way you could sit on train for 12 hours from bkk to Udon with my bum .
on a brighter note i did neeed to loose the weight so shorts fit better now ...
and i do use the bbq,s in Udon most weeks NEVER a problem ( the 1 just down from tesco oppisit side road is spot on ) but it only takes 1 bad or infected bit of meat and your in the SH/T.
