In areas like Pattaya where there are more than a few ladyboys, its truly amazing how many of them get picked up for a night of passion, especially by the Middle Eastern visitors.
It is an opportunity for holidaymakers to try out their fantasies/fetishes/perversions without their family and friends knowing back in their home countries.
If you thought they are a waste having them in bars - you are wrong as can be seen at bars solely containing ladyboys - they are always busy.
Those bars who only have 1 or 2 do it because they pull in the punters. They can hold their own on the pool table, and are good at getting people off the street into their bar. This may because of the punters shyness, embarassment, curiosity, fetish, or even appetite.
I have had drinks and played pool (and lost) with these ladyboys from the bar and (as expected) they are actually quite normal - should not to have aspertions cast on them.
Its a different ball game (literally LOL) to the ones who stalk the beach area and smaller sois
Most of these are the criminal types, aggressive, rude and not to mention downright ugly (which is probably why they don't work in bars) and its these ones who give a bad name to the others.
One question I have which I have never asked any of them is do they actually consider themselves to be male or female. Is every waking moment under the belief that they are feminine and must act (or not act) as a female, do they have female thoughts such as "Oh thats a lovely dress over there" or are they constantly putting on an act.?
Remember when you learn Thai language and when you hear something you have to translate it in your head then think of a reply and translate it into thai - you must always think about your responses. Later as you learn more when someone speaks Thai (such as sawasdee khrap) you can reply instantly without thinking - so does a ladyboy act feminine without thinking or are they always thinking and saying to themselves - I must do it this way because thats how a girl does it.
A bit difficult when stood at the urinal but hey - there must be some exceptions
