SCOT ROBBED IN SOUTH PATTAYA – THIEVES ESCAPE 20 VEHICLE POLICE PURSUIT
On 26th April 2009 a Scottish tourist was the victim of a robbery in South Pattaya. The thieves managed to successfully escape a pursuit by 20 police vehicles.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Sawai Aong-art of the Pattaya police was notified at 2:30 am that a thief managed to grab the wallet of Mr. Alexander Garpshore, [58], a Scottish national, while he was walking along Pattaya Land Soi 2 with his friend Miss Saowapa Stering, [35]. His wallet contained 3000 baht in cash, his driving license and two ATM cards.
Mr. Garpshore told police that the thief, who looked like a katoey, took his wallet and ran to a Bronze BMW, license no. No. 3216 Suratch Thani, and drove away. There were four other people in the car.
Police mobilized 20 vehicles, both cars and motorcycles, in pursuit of the car, chasing it along second road, third road, north Pattaya road, and then the main Sukhumvit highway, from which they managed to cut through to Route 7 heading towards Laem Chabang where they managed to disappear.
The police said later that the thieves must have had an excellent knowledge of Pattaya to have been able to make such a daring escape.
