At the moment on my desktop I am keeping it simple. I installed Windows XP SP2... Browser is Firefox 3.5 Beta 4... I have chosen NOT to download or install automatic Windows updates. So far so good and it is buzzing along just tickety boo! If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

If your computer is not genuine article,Make sure "updates" switched off.Otherwise .Windows will whip your ass with a annoying "YOUR COMPUTER IS NOT GENUINE ARTICLE" Everytime you open up computer.

Morti if it illegal software then they deserve what they get if every one bought the legal copies maybe we would not pay so much and also we would not have to validate our copies every time we want to upgrade windows

But I am told from a good source(true or not) computers bought from Thailand are not genuine.
Cant see it.But thats what I was told.

depends where you buy them, bought 2 in thailand, genuine copies, but didn't buy from small shop, name brand shop, via computer company promotion. also, verified copy of window before leaving shop on last purchase.

since most real computer shops have wifi, along with your new computer, to easy to verify before leaving shop, if can't, don't buy.

the price should be a dead give away also the packaging and the contents inside the box
there are plenty of places right here in Udon to buy LEGAL copies for one the hardware house in the complex second floor Ibeat also even tho they are Imac shop they sell it to install as a second O/S in your new Imac machines and there a few on the avenue that sell LEGAL copies just stay away from those shops
that sell ILLEGAL software and you should be safe

I don't get that problem with my dodgy copy. Just don't DL the Genuine Advantage Tool.

Of course, if you don't want the sky to fall in, then as Ron pointed out, stay away from any shops selling ILLEGAL copies. In fact, it might just be safer to stay away from Thailand altogether.
