Little extension

PostAuthor: iciodaverona » March 9, 2006, 5:21 am

I found those information about immigration office in Udon Thani, can someone of you tell me if it's updated and where the office exactly is?

I have to go back to Thailand next summer, and it's possible i will stay little (2 - 3) days more 30 normal visa they give me at arrival, can i apply to this office for my little extension? do i need some particular document, or only passport and flight tickets?

Thank you very much for help, and greetings from Italy. Icio

If you wish to stay longer than 30 days, it would be better/safer to apply for a 60 day tourist visa before you come, at a Thai consulate in your home country.

If you get a 30 day upon arrival, you should leave after 30 days. Sometimes people do overstay by a few days and pay a modest daily fine upon departure at the airport, but you are then taking chances and may have problems. You will see from previous postings elsewhere on this Forum, that you are technically breaking the law and liable to imprisonment and deportation, if you should be stopped after the 30 days have expired and before you get to the border or airport, which recently happened near Ranong! So not to be recommended.

Safer to apply for a 60 day tourist visa in advance, or keep to the 30 days. :)

The second choice is possible for me, just book flight ticket according on it, but somewhere, in an italian forum, other "veterans" told me it's possible to have a little extension (max 15 days) at immigration desk of the city where i am.

Do you think it isn't a possible solution?

Thanks, Icio

Hi Icio,
I certainly agree with Arjay...
Far better to obtain a 60 day "Tourist" visa from Thai Embassy/Consulate in Italy, that way you know you are covered.

I start thinking you are right, but i hate to loose myself in burocracy (i have enough in my work) ... i think better make a 1 day shortener trip, 17/07/06 - 15/08/06 and keep in the 30 days terms of law :?

Thanks too much, Icio.

Yes, all you need is a passort and approx 1,000 baht.

30 day tourist visa's can be extended by 10 days and 60 day tourist visa's 30 days at any immigration office within Thailand.

You could also have a day trip to Vientienne and get an extra 30 day visa on re-entry.

Piece of cake ;)

A 30 day visa can be extended for either 10 or 15 days, not sure, for the payment of 1900 baht at any immigration office. If you are only staying a few days extra this is the way to go. Do not take the overstay and pay the fine option.
