Login problems on new board

When I log in I like to go to "View new posts." However when I do, it lists about 4-5 posts even though on the home page just about every post is new to me. How do I see what REALLY ARE the new posts?

If you've logged out and then logged in again new posts that have been posted within this period will be shown. So if you logged out for half an hour and 5 posts have been posted, this number of posts will show. However if you want to view ALL new posts, regardless of last login time, select 'view active topics'.

Surely 'New' posts are indicated by the 'Red' signal for new posts...thats what i get anyway.
Even if you have not read all new posts and log out, the unread ones (highlighted in red ) are still there when you log back in..that way you never miss a post.

Usually everything is tickety-boo but just the last couple of days I'd look at the home page and see most posts are new, I'd log in and click new posts and only see 3-5 new posts. However didn't try the other options.

Oh and stop calling me Shirley...
