long term rental advice needed

PostAuthor: franklunn » July 14, 2009, 5:21 pm

:D Good day to you all,As you will probably gather i am new to this forum,Can anyone give me any details of rental appartments in nong khai approx 6-7000 bt per month,i don't need to be near any bars or singalong places.I am presently in UK having recently returned from 1 year in pattaya so i know a little bit about life in thailand in general, but pattaya,as much as i like it,is now getting abit to big and citified,i would be on a non o multi entry visa and plan a stay of 1+ years if poss and would like to return to thailand after new year, obviously i would also be on a budget being 60+ years old and would keep pretty much to myself only requiring the weekly run in to the social scene.thanks for any assistance.

Hi Frank, and welcome to the forum.

You mention rental apartments, but did you mean serviced or just private and look after things yourself?

Both are available here and well within the boundary of your budget for the accommodation.
There are some lovely places down on the river, if scenery is your thing, and there's no better way to end the day then with a stunning sunset hanging over the Mekong River.

There are plenty of places to choose from around town, so why not feel your way around first, before committing and stay at a few initially, and see which takes your fancy...

They sure do. That's one of the best perks of living here in Nong Khai, not to far to go when you need to top up your visa.

Frank, The Huan Lai apartments, a quiet position in the centre of town would be a good starting point, - 400 baht pn. You could then have a look round for what would suit you. There is plenty of choice in and around the town.

For example, Beer Belly Billy does long and short stay rentals. He is on the Riverfront Road, though about 3kms from centre of town, so there you would need a m/bike or transport of some sort. As I said, there is a lot of choice both in and around the town. :D

Frank, For the amount of money you mention 6 to 7,000 per month you can EASILY rent a nice house in NK for that, I've lived in NK for 14 Years now,and just an idea for you to consider,I & Nitt ( TW ) Live on a European type estate about 7 kms out of town, and there are a couple of rental properties available here at the moment,( Around 4,500 or 5,000 Baht per month ) Plus anytime you wanted a chat and a Coffee you would be MOST Welcome to ring our bell.....Alan...

Thanks Alan for that, its a very tempting idea for me to consider, reckon that would suit me nicely when i finally arrive...i will certainly look you up.I have some chums in pattaya thinking of relocating up north but they of course are long term stayers and finding pattaya abit too big now and difficult in some ways...of course they will remember the older days and the reasons they chose the place originally,as i remember as well....wonder if they will really take the plunge...oh well home is where you find it as they say.
much obliged. :D

Frank & 747, please post new subjects as new topics, and in the correct forum, e.g. Accommodation, Transport, Visa matters.

Some posts about the Uk, flight info and visas have been split off from this original topic about Accommodation in Nong Khai. ;)

Thanks

Accomodation in Nong Khai

PostAuthor: 747man » July 21, 2009, 9:36 am

Frank, Tes LOADS of choice here in NK as I told you can get an apartment at Huan Lai ( which is possibly one of the better places right in the town from 400 baht per night ( NOT sure if they discount for long stay ) but they have NO Lift & NO Pool,If you like a pool there is a place by the Rail station called Nong Khai resort ( ALL Individual Cottage type rooms,Quite New Build ( Approx 6 months old ) from 600 Baht,Again NOT sure Long Term rates....But IF a pool is not Vital to you,Then I would go for a Bungalow /House on an estate for between 4 & 5,000 per MONTH,But as they say......Up2You......Alan.. :-" :guiness:
