M/B helmuts are not cool

PostAuthor: BKKSTAN » April 23, 2009, 1:53 pm

M/B hemuts are not cool to many in Thailand!

I saved 50K,as my daughter would rather not have a M/B if she has to wear a helmut! What is cool is more important!

maybe a class on head traumas with visits to trauma wards would help,I don't know!

Maybe a ''Cool campaign'' to alter the thinking my work!

Face is a killer in many ways in this country! #-o

Maybe she expects you to buy her a new car. That's much more cool then a motorbike. Honestly though you are probable saving a lot more then 50K.It's ironic they ride the bikes with the helmet in the basket.

I remember you mentioning getting a bike for her a while back...so that was the outcome, she won't wear one so no bike, fair enough that would be my stance too. and at least she didn't agree to the helmut and not wear it when you are out of sight...as for being not cool sure there are some nice custom ones around to match the bike, in time she may have a change of heart...getting wheels equals freedom.

Actually,I fretted about the bike for quite awhile, but we have a good relatiionship and talk things out.She understands my concerns and doesn't disagree, but being cool is more important than the bike!
We have gone through the growing up sneakiness and I set pretty strict boundaries with complete discussions as to why and after a few tests,we have a good understanding now!

She doesn't ask for alot,I give alot and only have to say no ocassionally. She knows her parents are in charge and responsible and she has her full say and will have a reasonable position at times!

But on the helmut issue, there will be no compromises or changing of the mind! :D

Stan

a gr8 response and well done.

Responsibilities are required. My Gf 18 months ago wouldnt put a seat belt on. Despite my requests.

That lasted 10 seconds as the engine was turned off, and she was hungry ! LOL

Since then, Road Safety issues have been turned around 100 %

Total adherence to wearing the helmet on her Bike, seat belts in the car, inckuding her friends, and the fact, i drive very slowly past the fatalities, and explain the issues.

You couldn't get me on one of those things without full protective gear. I've lost count of how
many girls I've known with horrific scars from motorbike accidents. wearing little flip-flops,
shorts and no helmet, often piled-on 3 to a bike it's just insane. But you still see it everyday. :(

In all fairness Stan, you just dont understand how important a Girl's hair is :D But seriously bike safety is more than just a Helmet, protective clothing is just as important to save the skin in an accident. It may be cruel but maybe a visit to a Trauma Ward to see the end results might be worth a thought :(
