Yes. My wife just mentioned it again yesterday. They just could not compete with the newer clubs.

Closed ages ago, D2 ( now CU ) and Climax, took over as the top end places to go.

Now have a new pub called Mousey D2 opposite UD Pub , pretty popular and same owners as "Farenheight" - Old little Rock, which is also packed out now, after 0200, as the above close.

I used to enjoy the entertainment at Mambo's, they had a pretty good setup IMO and I always enjoyed a night out there. Yellow bird seems like the in place to go at the moment, you can't move in there on the weekends.

Yellow Bird, tends to play the " Thai Country " music .

So the night live is divided up into:

Hip Hop / Latest Pop music = CU, Climax, Mousey D2 , UD Pub ( Reggae ), Tongs :guiness:

Thai Country / Rock = Yellow Bird , Dar Wan Dang ( sic ) :drunk:

After hours 0200 onwards = Farenheight, +10, and a few other smaller little restaurents with some Thai rock / broken heart ! music :guitar:

Must admitt I do miss Lee's little snaps from a few years ago, :D

Me too.
Always had a good time in there. My daughter seems to think that the venue will open again after being refurbished.

well the last time I was in Udon which about 6 months ago, I think Mambo was the best ! I went to one in front of complex and cant bear the yelling music !! lol It such a shame to know Mambo is closed!! There were some nice dancers there. I like the way they sing international music live! oh well now i have my fav place in Pattaya called Hammer, they have international band who sing many top music on billboard which is cool!! if any of you ever have chance to go to pattaya ! Try Hammer second floor of candy shop!!
ps. I have nothing to do with the pub but deeply in love with the band there so much! so professional like you pay ticket to see real concert!!! have invited ten friends there all of em love it! unbeliveable lol

Bangsean Girl

Most of the "Live singing " at Mambo, was lip sync, they put it all down in a studio and the sound engineers do approx 80% of it and the 20% is the singers as an overlay. yes its still live as they do sing.

Most of the choreography dance / singing routines are all done like that.

The band at CU is live.

There are some excellent bands in Pattaya....always has been.I admire such talent these guys have.
I marvel at their talent!I am amazed sometimes mouth open in disbelief at their sound . Where do they have this stuff in Udon?Nearest is Western pub.they ok but not quite the atmosphere.Bit standard really.
Nearest good all round sound....YELLOWBIRD! Lead guitarist just brilliant. But all Thai/western style music.
Best time ever had was" in the " Little rock" in the Plaza.Moved now, but not the same anymore.BIB closed it.I think allowing under 20s in.

Little Rock felt the pinch when D2 opened and finally closed, as Mambo was raging at the same time.

Seems that Udon can support 2 large discos ( International music / non Thai western music ) , but a 3rd large styled one always drops off the scene.

The other thing that does affect the Thai scene is the price of mixers.

Soi Thai, behind HI Tech is very popular with the Student scene as the price of mixers is 10 baht . Like many of the small pubs in Hi TEch years ago, Bar Boon etc.... a DJ, speakers, toilets, and cheap wooden tables , cheap mixers and this placed rocked every night.
