sounds like a really nice price, especially for here.

think i paid more just for CPU and not as nice couple years ago, tho relative to how fast stuff is outdated.

Roy,

Sounds like a fair deal you got at 108. I also have used that store with success.

For those who feel comfortable enough upgrading, always check the prices of at least a couple of stores. Sometimes I buy at IT 108 and sometimes at the Hardware House in the complex.

The prices can vary up to as much as 30% buying the same product.

Has anyone had problems with either the Hardware House or the IT 108 store near Molly's? I'd like to know. If no one has had problems, I would feel safe recommending them to anyone.

Yes I have also used Hardware House in the past and never had any problems there either.
Both good shops and would use either of them again.
Just this time IT 108 came out the cheapest.

LA your right the price drops all the time even for more sophisticated technology, I also bought a Brother all in 1 printer for 2,300baht.
3 years ago I bought a Lexmark which looks ancient and does not compare with the quality of the new one for about 4,000baht!

Stan,
I haven't read all the replies to your post but this is what I was after doing more for video telephony than watching vidoes and it has done the trick. As my OP said, I originally has 128 Mb RAM, video was awful, have now added another 512 Mb and the video is now much much better, no staggering pictures and no delay......512Mb RAM for my machine cost 1,200 bht in the complex.......

hey stan, dont' buy any memory yet, i'm upgrading my 512 to 2gig next week, maybe, though very doubtful, my 512 will work with yours. if so, it's yours. i haven't even looked inside to see which one it is, jot down you make and model, by next meeting i should be done, unless you are in a hurry.

Guys
RAM is now in three formats DDR, DDR2 and now DDR3

Make sure you have the correct one as you can damage the mother board inserting the wrong RAM, DD3 have different width slot pins

All extra RAM put in machines has to be exactly the same vaue otherwise the higher value will over ride the lower.
Most machine have 4 RAM slots, you could put a dual mixture in that case for example 2 x 512 and 2 x 256

Hope the above is useful
:D

Stan,

You can try this site, click on Scan My System (you have to open with IE) and go from there. This will tell you what you have installed.

Paul (moderator) was providing upgraded computers to a local school some time ago and might be able to use it? I will have a monitor to donate when it comes back from repair place in Bangkok, as well.

Paul, you out there?

How do we watch out for them or check for them?

I had to remove a keygen not long ago.

I downloaded a program "poweriso" with a keygen.

the next virus scan I made I got a warning that the keygen was a trojan horse.

I had to quarantine it. :( :(
