mobile phone in the car NEW LAW... take a picture...

I wonder if this will hold in court?

An eagle eye on motorists

Those who witness motorists using mobile phones while driving can now submit pictures as evidence at the Traffic Police Division's website, www.trafficpolice.go.th, a senior traffic police officer said Tuesday.

However, Police Lt Col Phanu Kerdlarpphol did not say if these good Samaritans would be rewarded for participating in this "Golden Eye Traffic Policemen" project.

Violators will be given these photos along with their traffic tickets and will be required to pay the fine when they renew their annual vehicle registration papers.

By the way,

It seems that this is only the beginning:

In Holland and Belgium politicians are thinking about voting a law that would make it illegal to smoke in the car and to smoke while driving...

(test showed that smoking while driving is more distracting than "phoning" while driving.).

as a non smoker I applaud these rules placed on smokers
for years I had to eat in restaurant or drink in a bar with these people blowing there filty smoke in my direction. I don't drink but I do like to visit a bar to socialize with friends and still I have to breath in that crap. Even open air restaurant you get the smoke because of the wind and to avoid it you will be playing musical chairs.

I suspect this would have trouble sticking in a Western country, unless the license plate were clearly shown in the photo and there was some way to correlate the vehicle license number with the driver. Having said that, being that we are talking about Asia, the laws are applied a little bit differently.

:-k Interesting. The only time I ever notice a motorist using a mobile while driving, is when I am also driving.

I wonder what happens, If I were to photo a driver, with my mobile, while I am driving, then he, or she, sees me taking a photo of them, they then retaliate by taking my photo of me taking their photo?

Then if a 3rd, then a 4th motorist, etc, joins in, we have a 20 car pile up?

I guess we're all busted, at that point? Sounds like a fun hobby.
