money transfer

PostAuthor: 38nholding » March 6, 2008, 10:25 am

Have just gotten my first 3 month O visa based on marriage. Notorised letter from embassy stating over 65 k a month ,all incomes. Do I also need to show transferes of said amount,if so does a downloaded copy of my atm withdrawals count? It actaually states on my withdrawal statements that it goes to Thailand . I do this six times (max 10k per withdrawal). then I deposit 60k into my thai bank one time a month. Is this going to keep the boys in nong kai happy.

I have the Non-Immigration 0 based on marriage also. I do a transfer each ever month. I don't do the atm transfer as you will need a letter from the bank showing what your balance is and all your transfers from outside Thailand. The letter and the balance in your bank book have to match. When I get the letter I make sure my bank book is up to date and balances in the book and on the letter are exactly the same. Makes for going through Nong Khai much easier. Since your are O visa based on support of spouse, they will take inconsideration your income coming in and your wife's if she is working.

As far as I am aware, if you have a notorised letter from the Embassy, that is all that is required,

For a marriage visa, you only need to show, 40,000 bht joint income per month.

I used my monthly bank statements to show the money coming to Thailand. The Immigration Policeman wouldn't just accept the letter from the embassy. He wanted me to show that the money was actually coming to Thailand.

He still required a letter from the bank even though my qualification was based on income, not money in the bank.

Doesn't really matter to me what they want as long as I get another year. :D

Just keep in mind that you won't really know what is required to obtain a visa until you actually obtain a visa. The immigration officer can ask for any documentation she/he feels necessary in order to determine whether you meet the guidelines for qualification. From reports, it seems that requirements from officers at he Nong Khai office are much more variable than at some other offices.

Don't be surprised if you arrive at immigration and are asked for different or more documents. Its part of the process.

I am also on marriage visa \ I don't always bring in 40K every month some months around 35K
I use my credit cards a lot \ I use them in tesco when I food shop \ I some times get a better return on my money \ I see by the other poster I better start bringing in 40K or more every month
other wise I might have a problem when I renew my visa

I assume you are talking about the immigration officer at NK.They seem to give more credence to the rule that the officer may ask for additional info,up to him, than the basic requirements!

That is why I go to Bangkok once a year although I live in NK!
