Correct me if I am wrong, but even if you had 6 video cards and 6 monitors running off your computer, as you only have one computer, one mouse and one keyboard, surely they could/would only display the same thing as each other? I can't see that you could have them doing different things!! :? Or am I being short-sighted? :?

Motasi, I have no wish to use multiple monitors, so have no wish to research the subject. Just using my limited knowledge and logic to speculate! I'm not currently in to Rocket Science, - still grappling with Quantum Physics and striving to improve my interpersonal skills down at the hermitage. ;)

Yes, Trubrit, see what you've started now! :D

just Google it, like LA did

nah, it's in the 'help and support' program on all computers. if not having a monitor problem, would of never noticed. though it is a good thing to go thru, if having spare time. along with all the other trials available, that we never looked at. 3 comp/15 years, and first time i really did any of that 'read instructions', before using, well, almost. found out a few, but the rest was just a refresher, learning finer points or the technical names, which is all forgotten again.

we're all ignorant until we learn, and we don't learn until we ask the question. after reading how to do it, besides 'dualview', i still haven't go a clue what it all says. it would take a bit more research and brushing up on terminology and what and where that junk actually goes. i almost comes natural to me, and i still struggle. like the kids playing video games today, i haven't got the experience, skill or reflexes to hang, was brought up with it, far from natural, but been playing trial and error with computers for a while, a couple things stuck, still ignorant compared to someone that tinkers all the time, like Cliff.

now, if you want a nice mixed drink or a perfectly rolled doobie, and chit chat about music, i'm there. :guitar: :guitar: :guitar: :guitar: :guitar: :drunk: :drunk: :drunk: :drunk:

Trubrit, what you want to achieve can be done using a KVM switch, something like the one on this website:

http://www.shop4thai.com/th/product/21822/

This basically enables you to be able to connect 2 keyboard, 2 mice and 2 monitors to one pc so multiple tasks can be done at the same time.

I have never actually set one up, so try to get one with some English instructions if required, failing that make sure the manufacturer has a good online support system.

I don't know about availability of them in Udon, but can be bought online via the above link at a reasonable price, but make sure you select the right connections for your current keyboard, mouse and monitor.

Full list of switches are here:

if that doesn't work for you, next time out and about, Fortune Mall in bkk should have something along the lines of what is needed. more relaxed and trustworthy tech shopping than pantip plaza, which i avoid.

Thanks for a civil reply Bangkok Butcher. I must be in the first stages of dementia as one look at the products available sent my head spinning. I don't even know what KVM stands for, yet alone how to use it. :-k Think I will just stick to asking questions about the TG's in future.(I do know how to use them, I think.) #-o :-"

B/B I did set one up for my daughter you only use one keyboard & one mouse every thing is tied in to the KVM switch but it still involves two computers and only one monitor the wires for both keyboard & mice go from the KVM switch to the PC and one keyboard & one mouse come off the KVM switch

reply from dear brother, though honestly, haven't got a clue, but sounds easy enough, but this is the states, where walk into any tech store, and they know and sell everything. 'comcast' is his cable tv/isp internet server, coming in on a T1 line i think, guessing he is running streaming feed on half the monitors. all flawless, ah, the real world.

need nothing special to run except I use 4 port Router to split cable/internet signal from comcast for the 3 computers

4 monitors per computer,I use 2 dual video cards per computer ,4 x 3=12 monitors ,just make sure video card are compatible with memory and set up video card so can drag mouse across all 4 monitors if needed,I would add memory also and make sure again matches what;s in computer and work with video cards

sound more like what the Butcher is recommending, and then some, since brother is running so many. 8)

A KVM switch (with KVM being an abbreviation for Keyboard, Video or Visual Display Unit, Mouse) is a hardware device that allows a user to control multiple computers from a single keyboard, video monitor and mouse.

Some KVM switches can also function in reverse (hence the need to do a little research) - that is, a single PC can be connected to multiple monitors, keyboards, and mice.

This enables 2 or more users to run applications from a single pc, the only downside will be that if the applications running are resource hungry, then the pc will slow up considerably.

Something else to consider when adding video cards is your power supply. They eat power and many computers will not be able to handle the extra load (especially cards for game playing quality) - which is probably why the dealer said no.
