More Robberies on the Ring Road.

PostAuthor: dougness » May 5, 2009, 10:38 am

Hi everyone,I was talking to my wife recently and she mentioned two more Thai women have been kicked off thier motorbikes for thier purses and or bikes. She said one looked like she will have scars that will make it hard for her to find a husband now.The area where these muggings have occurred is between the overpass near Big C and Global house. And again happening later in the evening.

Well I certainly hope the Police aren't ignoring it the way they tend to do. This kind of thuggery has got to be stopped.

Bad news indeed Doug.
About 2 weeks ago I went into town quite late (well 11 at night, so late for me :D ) & I have to travel the Romien - Big C bit of this route.
I was really surprised to see that a police pick up had pulled a couple of lads on a motor bike onto the hard shoulder & were examining them & their bike. I can't think of any other time I have ever seen this happen - so, maybe, they are onto the case but I guess a bit 'needle in haystack' .
Can only hope they are quickly caught & punished.....

I have only been living in Udon for about 2 years but I hear that Soi Nong Bua's east end is pretty much a no-go area if you are on your lonesome after dark. That soi meets the ring-road half-way between Big-C and Global so must be where these tykes are operating out of. I am on the other side of that intersection, opposite the Dong Udom School and I hear that a couple of houses in the mooban have been done in the past couple of months, including lifting the crotch-rocket motorcycle.

My Pattaya place has been burgled once and attempted a second time since February. That's after standing kamoy-free for over 22 years. Sign o' the times indeed.

But I have a killer toy poodle so we are OK.

I'm at First Home on the 'east' side of Nong Bua Road. I insist the missus is home before 5pm as to avoid any problems. I also tell her to put her purse unfer the seat of the Wave, but she might be slipping on that, so I'll have pull her knickers down and give her a spanking if she's neglected to do that - actually, I think I'll give her a spanking anyway...

If your misses MUST be out late in these areas, you should insist that they put their cellphone inside their bra!! These thieves often take both m/c and the handy purse which usually contains the cellphone. At least she would be able to call you or the police or help if she still has her phone.

I wouldn't call this a new development.
I lived in Lom Yen '06/'07 and that area near the traffic light going into Soi Nong Bua is BAD news.

One night, not too long ago, as we were driving down Soi Nongbua toward the ring road, a bit past the 7-11, my wife mentioned that this was the most dangerous part of the road at night. I have to agree.

Since one of us reported being knocked off his motorbike late one night on this part of the road, I have been very conscious of other motorbikes on the street when going home late at night.

Now I know why I do not drive a motorbike, but there are still many many places where road lights are scarce if at all and it these areas where muggings occur.
Those who do ride thisese mc. be so very careful, and do take the suggestion form another seriously, if your wife/g/f drives home alone, pick them up gentlemen, no-one really wants to say, if I had done it, she would not be in hospital or god forbid the morgue. With the unemployment rising crime is on the up no doubt about that.

Dear Westerby, you seem to enjoy asking where one gets information, let me expolain to you a few facts.
1, I read all available material AND asking friends and aquaitances before I write a word.
2, I write a summary of what i have heard or seen, a precis to be exact so as to put forward a considered view.
3. My last couple of posts you see fit to attack me as to how I get the information and now I read that you are not even in this country.
This is Thai;land anyone with a brian can see and know what is happening, may I suggest if you DO NOT have a information of a positive nature or idea to write for our members that you keep your tart misguided comments to yourself and let those who live here write about things that are occurring in Udon. Thankyou have a nice day.

you leave westie alone you bully . and your comment about the poor lad not living here , i found quite predudiced . besides that , hes allegedly a four eyed dwarf , whos pooping himself in case the moslims might get him . dont you think he has a hard enough time , without you picking on him ? he only asks where you got your information , so he can compose a dossier on the relevant facts , and not , as i believe fiction . hes got to have something to occupy his mind , besides jogging , and dressing up as sadie at the weekends .

Point taken the old saying little pants fit little behinds and bigger fools look on springs to mind but I doubt if that is truly appropriate however one must not attack a fellow postee howeversomuch he is relying on the oracle and the ouja board to do is bidding.
i am so sorry westerby i did not realise you were so worried about the Muslim takeopver of your parish and the cross dressing, os a 'fgreind' says yopu m,ust have something to occupy your poor demented mind.
