Motor Cycle Accident- Fatality

PostAuthor: wazza » December 10, 2008, 1:11 am

Just stopped off at a motor cycle accident, corner of Soi Nong Bua, and Nong Khai Ring Road.

Another red light intersection incident and tragically fatal for the rider. Ne helmet and DOA due to his non survivable head injury.

One thing that does amaze me, is the number of "gawkers " approx 100 all up i estimate.

All within 10 meters of the deceased, what chance has any foresnsic investigation got.

I imagine the file is all but ready to be closed off by midday today, after relataives have been notified.

RIP Khun ??

I wish this incident would change some peoples attitudes to wearing a helmet , but sadly it wont.

No Wazza nothing will change attitude towards road safety. Last night I sat eating noodles with g/f... Last year there was a FATAC as we ate at same place. On every change of the lights (red) not only were there the usual red light runners but they sped through. Religion has a lot to answer for. They have their amulet around their neck so they have nothing to fear.

IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN TO THEM.

Just when you thought you have seen it all something else appears.

Yesterday TW stopped a woman on a Wave in front of our house and was in a real flap so I went over to see what it was about. She had a baby in a small shopping basket on the pillion seat, it was held on with an old fraid 'oggie' strap, TW rocked it and there was just no tie down support at all. Apparently this woman has been chipped many times about the practice but just does not care. :fryingpan:

Reminds me of the time I arrived to pick up my daughter from day care. As I pulled up so did an elderly man with an infant riding in the front basket of his MB. Incredibly a few parents around that witness this didn't show any emotion as if was a normal thing to do.

First my condolences to the young man and his family. It might not be smart but it as still a tragedy and there are family members involved.

Second, please commend Ms. Bandung Dero. As the type of behavoir is not unusual in Thailand to carry an infant or child in a dangerous way, the practice continues. Most are just plain ignorant but not stupid. Thanks you your wife, I hope a bit of education was done. I applaud her for getting involved and not standing back. =D> =D>

sadly most of these fatalities are cause by idiots who drive with out there lights on at night time
and they are also going very fast so it to late when you see them to get out of there way
bigwave Dave & myself were hit by idiot drivers and both of us wound up in the hospital
Dave is still there to my knowledge and I spent 15 days in the hospital and my life will
never be the same. I just want to ad I don't give a dam if they don't wear a helmet
it does not affect me I do care when they drive with the lights off that does
affect me and every one else on the road including pedestrians trying to cross the road

My accident happened some 3 years ago.clever m/c rider thought so smart, run red light at great speed, ploughed into my NV as I was turning right. So fast he was ended up some 30 foot up the road!
He had a helmet, but wasn't wearing it! Died next day.Only injury,His head. The most fragile part of the body! Will they never learn? no! too arrogant to take advise
My Missus had a fall off her bike due to bad road surface last year.she was ok only because of this.....

Oldfield

Not new at all, but when blame is going to be attributed and blood money discussed, then some sort of neutral / balanced report needs to be submitted.

Just removing the bike from the area of rest, then allows disputes to occur.

Its why the Thais wont move their car under any circumstance if they have been in an accident. Just stay put and stick on the hazzard lights. Frustrating for others trying to pass, but their only chance of proving to insurance assessors, who arrive 30 mins later.

I must admit, I don't like that junction. I have to cross it in the pick up on my way to Nongbua Park when I go running. I was on it slowly turning right the other day and some Herbert on a motor-cy zipped up my right hand side and crossed my front to go left, again no helmet on his bonce. Buddha must have been looking out for him.

When lecturing about the "Mechanism of Injury" for a head injury. I use a simple approach.

Imagine, u have a 1 litre bowl of Jelly / jello contained in a small plastic / brittle container.

Stand back 5 meters from a wall and throw it as hard as u can against the wall.

What u then see is the effects of a head injury ( skull and brain ) after u hit the ground or some other form of solid object ie car, pole, at massive deceleration.
