New Housing Development Begins

PostAuthor: parrot » May 28, 2008, 12:59 pm

If you frequent the airport and would prefer walking to the terminal, there's a new housing development about to begin on the shortcut road that leads from the airport into town. The development will have 250 2 story homes. The contractor is just beginning to fill the area along side the runway (just outside the airport wall) as you go into town. Name: บ้านรุ่งเรือง = Prosperity Homes

I expect he got the land for a very small price or free!
The Thai government give land like this away for free  eg. under flyovers and in between express routes providing you are willing to build a house and live there ...... Best get some serious insulation if you like a peaceful life

I wonder if new residents are going to start complaining about the noise, demanding compensation, threated to release balloons in the flight path, etc...

There are plenty of people including me that aren't bothered by the sound of an airplane taking off. Udon Thani doesn't have much air traffic. If the housing was significantly cheaper because of the occasional noise that would attract me. The short trip to the airport is a minor plus.

ah development throughout Udon, will it never cease.. I have to speculate that most of the projects have to be bets that the economy will improve or housing will get "hot" once again.. Long term bets no doubt. There are plenty of Ban Jat Sans that are sitting in partial completion or nearly empty plus the bank bulletin boards showing dozen of foreclosures at raka piset prices... Yeah, the comment in the sting that the developer probably got a "deal" is certainly correct.. That's just how things work here...

so if they allow flights from 6.00am till 9.00pm on average 41 a day that would be 2.7 flights an hour, or lets say 1 every half an hour.

what those figures dont show is once the airforce have taken off.usually about 5 alpha jets at a time, they then spend the next hour or so practicing aproaches for landing without landing, so not recorded. and they are very noisy compared to a commercial aircraft.

Absolutly Thai Air Force cantake of, it is landing that they have problems with. Jet versus house, no contest.
Me I did live near to heathrow for a time but the house I lived in was there 45yrs before the sirport.
Now I live in quiet, occasional plane flying overhead at about 5-7ooo feet enough not too worry me.
