So what if you don't have a home, but just stay in a rented apartment or guest house!?

Don't get wound up by hearsay and speculation guys!! Wait till you know it's fact! :D

My guess is whatever is claimed as their residence. Which case one would probably have to provide a letter from the guest house or copy of the owners house book.

I guess that's why they asked for a copy of my wife's house book.

Stan how much B/S are you willing to take ?
let assume the poster is correct do you really want to take photos of your home with you in front as well as inside just to prove you live there ?
what is wrong with a simple letter addressed to you at your address ?
now if they want that I will show them a envelope addressed to me by V.A adm. USA if they reject that then they can kiss my azz
I will not submit photos my wife will against my judgement
With prior notice,I don't consider it BS!We don't make the rules and in my estimation this is nothing!

There are alot of things that are done in Thailand that I believe can be improved or could be done in a better manner!Taking 4 photos and drawing a map are not enough to make be obstinate acting or furious about the request!

Have to agree with Stan, I don't think it's that big of a deal. My main concern is having to find out the "new rules" when you go to apply. For me that's easily resolved by paying a visit ahead of time to ask what I'm required in addition to what I already have.

Also, there shouldn't really be any surprises. The Imm website specifically states the following under required documents:

"12. The officials reserve the rights to examine or ask for additional documents from the applicant if necessary."

I know this isn’t relevant to just the marriage visa…but this appears in the current Pattaya To-Day site. Dated 25/12/2007
I don’t know how authentic the facts are, but there are quoting the British part time Embassy guy that is connected with the P.T.D

http://www.pattaya2day.com/index.php?ac ... ws&id=2699

Retirement visas affected again

Pattaya immigration bureau is now requiring that farang applicants of all nationalities for the one year retirement visa, both old and new, provide an audit trail for the “proof of income” letter provided by foreign embassies as part of the paperwork. In the past, such a letter was acceptable to
immigration without backup documentation such as foreign bank statements or tax
summaries.

However, applicants must now provide for immigration staff the evidence on which their income claim was based, duly stamped as seen by the appropriate foreign embassy.
“The immigration authorities are now asking both for an embassy letter and for the financial evidence on which it is based,” said Barry Kenyon of the British embassy who signs the documents for hundreds of British retirees in Pattaya.
Farangs who obtain the retirement visa by keeping at least 800,000 baht in a Thai bank are unaffected as they do not need to provide proof of any foreign based income.
However, the 800,000 baht minimum has to have been in the bank for three months for an application being made for the first time. There is no three month rule for second and subsequent applications.
The new move comes on top of a requirement made several weeks ago that a photocopy of the applicant’s credit, debit or ATM card must accompany all applications for the one year retirement visa. This is a revival of an old rule made some years ago for extensions of certain visas, but there is no objection if applicants ink out sensitive numbers or codes. There is a summary of what Pattaya Today believes to be the current, overall situation on retirement visas in Talk of the Town in this issue.

Many of the reports in Pattaya Today, written by the Hon British Consul in Pattaya, Mr B Kenyon, have been discredited pretty convincingly.

For the most up to date, and generally credible information on visas, I suggest everyone consult Thai Visa at

Ron,

I did mine last month and it was a piece of cake, less than 15min. And I also brought along all documentation related to my extension. Didn't need it, but if something would have come up then I had it.

Good luck :D

its only a few photos...just borrow someone elses wife and go stand outside a differant house if anyones that worried and also just to add more confusion.lol
how about one in bed, one in the bath together and one of you collapsed together on the sofa surrounded by empty beer cans...with the TV still on.

Top Tip : print off a copy of Udonmap city map to save drawing one out...will look more professional, and save on pen ink.

easy for you to say, beer monkey, since you're here on a tourist visa. you haven't seen or experienced the nervous twitching, sweaty palms or gulps out at Nong Khai Immigration/Detention Center aka Guantanamo East.

aznyron, the 90 day reports are a piece of cake and don't really require an in-depth post unless you've moved in the past 90 days. then they might force you to bring along your landlord, former tilac and your firstborn.
