Nicknames used by you and Thai wife or girlfriend?

PostAuthor: TJ » July 25, 2008, 2:02 am

This question is raised partly to feel out what nicks are acceptable and preferred by the Thai ladies. What nicks have the TGs used that are irritating or less than respectable; we are aware of the "darling" double meaning. What would you like to be called (Khun Boss)? What nick did you call your lady and found that she didn't like (shorty)? Did she discuss nicks? Nicks before marriage and after marriage? How about nicks for the kids or the relatives? What nicks are degrading or unacceptable to Thais generally? Are there nicks that Thais see as particularly respectful or pleasing? Please translate any nicks expressed inThai.

I call the Dragon 'Deer Dam' (little and black) - she hates that.

She calls me 'Kar Jong' (bendy or crooked legs). Mr. Bean seems to have also stuck as my nickname with her family.

Her friend calls her husband 'Buk Jagaryan' (Mister Bicycle) because she gets so p*ssed off with him that she wants to push his head down with her feet in a treading action.

We never discussed nicknames before we were married and I don't really care what she calls me now so long as she keeps my house clean and my shirts ironed. :D

The missus likes to refer to me as Ling (monkey) not due to racism but the abundance of hair that sprouts everywhere except my head!
Her nickname is Jim and as this is a family forum I will not go into why a monk would give a new born girl that name

All meant in fun so have no problems with it. 8)

She calls me....Da Ooan (fat git..!!) or Big boy sometimes, also Toom Tam(the young TV star/singer),used to use Doreamon(cartoon character) she never used my Christian name for years but uses that quite a lot now...she also uses a few others when she gets the hump..!

For our little boy she calls him Hum Noi(small privates) or just Hum,also 'Noo'(rat) and Ling noi(small monkey) is used.

No Thai nick names here, I don't recall ever using any except for tilac and that was early on in our relationship. My wife to me it's honey or babe. Me to her it's usually honey. Although, when we're out and about with the kids we refer to one another as mommy & daddy :D

Mine used to call me un-nee-ya... I would ask what that was and it was a bad efort at honey so now Honeeya it is or darling. However last week in the market in Nong Khai I said might be a good idea to call me Alan as there are a lot of fahlang there so if she calls darling, about 25 heads turn around...Image

I am just relieved she has never once used the word tii-luk. My ex used to call me that in case the multiplicitous bitch would get her many names mixed up... Image
