NIGHT AND DAY ,MUSICAL CHAOS

PostAuthor: fallenlocks » January 14, 2009, 6:44 pm

on entering this place ,
you are bombarded , with loud and different music ,
from each bar ... i choose a bar , that is less deafening ,
and songs you can listen and understand .
most of the farangs , who frequent these bars ,
do not want this mono tone , repetitive crap ..
why do they not have one sound system ,
for all the bars .
then i would spend more time there ,
enjoying the beers , etc ...etc .. ;) :guitar:

I think that was considered right at the start - a single DJ piping music into every bar.
For some reason (that I am not privy to) it was discounted - I imagine that every owner wanted to go his own way.
Personally I agree 100% with what you are saying. It is one of the reasons that I only go there on few occasions.

On a visit to Night & Day Soi last week, - purely for research purposes you understand, - myself and a colleague were approached by a bar owner for our views on exactly this topic. We both agreed that there was too much conflicting music/noise from the various bars, as well as the type of music was more akin to a youngsters disco, - i.e. boom, boom, rather than a mixture of music suited to a slightly older and mixed background clientele.

We too agreed that it be better to have had a single source of music, if necessary controlled by a DJ or similar, piped into all bars.

Currently there is a strong clash of sound sources, usually resulting in you sitting in one bar and having the overly loud music of an adjoining bar imposed upon you, often to the extent that you can't hear yourself speaking or engaging in intercourse. Thus I seem to have acquired a reputation for not socialising enough and being reclusive!! :-" :D

The far end needs to be closed in and a massive TV screen installed like the night market. One source of music linked to the screen with speakers in each bar..
Of course the footie would take priority when it's on. :D Might even get more customers?

Well arjay, when it comes to Day 'n Night, I'm a non-socialiser (is that a word?) as well. The place really 'turns me off'. :censored:

I would imagine that the reason for the hip/hop/rap type music being played at D/N is the same reason it is being played at the bars in Patters......

It is for the enjoyment of the staff.....not the customers. :fryingpan:

I feel the same.

If I wanted that type of entertainment, I would travel to the South.

that would have promise, as the dualing sound systems will keep me away. strolled in and out new years, couple spots i could pass time at were full. the rest didn't interest us.

My favorite bar in Bangers was the old Woodstock in Nana, the bar had a fabulous and eclectic collection of music.
Another one I liked was the sports bar in Soi 20, good music videos, both bars had the sound level about right.
The new woodstock in Thonglor does it for me as well, good music played on one of those electronic juke boxes, quality food and a quiet atmosphere. The problem with bars in Udon is that they don't understand the demongraphic profile of their customers, we are in the main old farts, who who much prefer to listen to Stevie ray Vaughen, or the Yard birds, Springsteen, Stones etc.

Is there not a group of bars in pattaya, along walking street , that has exactley that, one sound system for the many bars? Only frequented there about 40 times, so not sure exatly where(hic). But i do remember that it was a great idea to be moving from bar to bar and the same music. So am I hearing that the big new farang alley is a bust ?? And the only person making money is the guy who is renting out the concrete .?Smart

We will have to wait and see, if that bar owner takes Arjay's comments on board.
With just a few tweaks, Day and Night might get a few more punters.
I like the idea of covering up the back bog section and installing a big screen TV for sports.

Another good idea I think. It is a pleasant area out there and totally under utilised at the moment. A couple of the bars in there do show sport at the moment (G Spot & Friendship Bar to name two) but difficult to hear commentary over neighbours music sometimes !!

Discussion on the music preferences will be all a bit irrelevant when the big wet starts again.
When its raining on the barn roof you won't even be able to hear the rubbish music let alone a sports commentary.

Yes. Woodstock was great. It was my favorite Bangkok bar also for ambiance and relaxation. Unlike the other bars in NEP it was quiet and the lighting was low. The slightly small U-shaped bar had confortable seating and a large screen on the wall was centered at the mouth of the U. It had a kitchen and good food was served at reasonable prices. Subs were among the favorites on the menu. I liked the salads. Had a couple worn pool tables. Most patrons seemed to be or acted like locals. You couldn't pick out the manager, nor was there any need of finding him. Conversation was usually available, if you weren't concentrating on eats and drink. Great location. Another reason to say it ain't like it used to be.

The one negative, for me, is that whatever was on tv was boring or irritating. To bad they didn't just play old classic movies such as Casablanca, The Searchers (John Wayne), Bridge on the River Kwai or Miracle on 34th Street.
