Nong Khai immigration last friday

PostAuthor: businessman » October 1, 2006, 11:47 am

Nong Khai immigration last Friday morning was bedlam and i wondered if any forum members got caught up in it as well. There were five of six other farang there too as we were swamped with dozens of Chinese doing visa extentions.Very odd as they all spoke perfect Thai too.Is there not a problem in Udon with Chinedse nationals selling goods at markets there?
I arrived at ten and left at about two and the guys worked through their lunch break.

I was there, got there 45 mins before they opened, 9:00am. I was out of there by 9:45 am, or somewhere around that time, I was 5th inline. I got my 1 year extention and left. While I was there, a farang was over 30 days past his visa expiration. I heard he had to pay 30,000 baht. I can understand maybe a couple of days, but not over 30 days.

I guess the Chinese came after I left, as it was mainly Brits, Aussies, and Americans there. Glad I left when I did. Well won't have to worry about it until I go on my 90 days report in.

It could be the staee-wong-tiem visa. :-k If it's an extention, maybe it's the non-O visa being extented, and they could of been all in the same family.

I was thinking about the Chinese vendors and whether they were trying to get visas ,so they could stay here and sell.Might had nothing to do with them.Could have just been a large group of tourists applying for 2 week extentions.

Stan, each had a large bundle of photocopies which immigration flicked through,so i t must be an "o" or "b" visa.Done many tourist extentions in the past and its just one form to fill in as i remember.
Every chair in the room was occupied and twenty odd people were outside. In the end i went to lunch and came back and my number just came up on my return.

Would it be reasonable to assume that Nong Khai office would be understaffed on Mon/Fri due to the three members missing that are at AEK? So therefore busier than normal. If not what do those three do on Tues /Thurs?

I assumed Nong Khai because I have certainly seen two of the faces there on occassion, but the little plump lady, who funnily enough seems to have more braid on her sleeve, I don't know.

Cliff, businessman said he was at Nong Khai immigration. You were at AEK, which is where I saw you, jumping the queue I might add, though not that you were aware. There was a free for all with the queue cards! :D

OOOPS!!!! Yes there was a free for all, and one Thai or Lao got upset because he felt that he was 2n or 3rd inline. He voiced his dislike of the free for all and that he should of had the number 2 or 3 queue card. He was slow in grabbing a card. One of the farangs grabbed 3 queue cards and handed them to his buddies. That was started the arguement. But like most Thais, it ended very shortly with a little laughter.
