Grand opening on April !?Sounds good to me.

Maybe we can put together a group like a NM get together and all go on Wed.the first!make a day of it and give this fella a good grand opening!

Was not casting aspersions on this farm at all. I am well aware that large scale operations will be usually using pelleted food (was careful to refer to small traditional fish ponds in my statement). I was referring to statements that carp were dirty feeders - basically i was saying there is no difference in cleanliness of eating habits, both naturally eat detritus (i.e. dead plants/organic matter) and anyway it does not matter (just chemistry). In large fish farms, Tilapia and Carp are basically fed similar pellets as their nutritional requirements are similar. It is mainly about water quality. I would eat carp from a water if i would eat the tilapia; its the water that counts. But i would prefer tilapia on taste. Just cannot get really fresh Tilapia easily in europe, too cold. But i can catch carp.

I have grown tilapia for food in UK, tasted lovely, but just not viable as a business financially due to heating costs. Also in UK land/property prices are so high that only millionaires can afford it. i tried to save for ten years for one, inflation always rises faster.

i hope someone of you guys can give a report of your day at the fishing camp cuz we are in sweden now and can not be there.. we hope you all will have a good time there

Went to the fishing park and found that it is clean, relaxing and quiet. Had a wonderful day. The water is cleaner than I’ve seen in any Udon province fish pond. They say (and I believe) only commercial fish food is provided to the fish. Saw them being fed while we were there. The road signs getting there were helpful and accurate. The open air bar was cool and the service was great. We even had the food and drinks delivered to our fishing hut. Cold Leo beer (large bottles) was only 50 baht. All bar prices seemed very reasonable. They don’t want food and drinks brought in there because they have their own bar and restaurant. There was no entrance fee and we paid 60 baht per kilo for the Talapia that we kept. Plenty of fish. Haven’t seen any fishing places so close around here that compare to this place. It’s ideal for a farang dayout. By the way, they have a website www.udon-fishing.com The website has two maps (Google and a separate local map below that). Using the map and watching the road signs made it simple to get there.

Opps Bump

An 18 inch (with head, 15 inch without) Flathead caught in the Noosa river on April 1.

It was too stormy to fish the beach. One nice fillet for dinner last night and one for lunch today. I threw back 2 undersize and one oversize.

Caught on 8 lb breaking strain line and using a plastic prawn for bait.
