Nongchanh Waterpark

PostAuthor: Sean » July 9, 2009, 9:14 am

On my usual 3 month visa run the other day, I took my kids along to the large waterpark in Nongchanh, near Vientiane, Laos. (near the main bus station)

Nongchanh waterpark is the only park of it's kind in Laos. It features three different types of waterslides, 3 spiral falls, a twin fall and a 6 lane racer. Other attractions include the fun pool and lazy river (which unfortunately wasn't open yesterday). The waterpark is geared towards activities which are fun for children and adults alike.

They can also cater for family birthday parties and corporate functions, and have a capacity to organise large events and concerts.

There is also some food available on site and a nice cafe outside serving a variety of lunch menu style foods, including foccacia and baguettes with various fillings.

Tube and locker rental are available along with the usual bathroom/shower facilities. Poolside chairs are there if you just want to relax after all the excitement.

They are open from 10am to 6.30pm every day and are located at:
Waterpark Nongchanh
Ban Dongpalane
Tha Sisatanak District

Do you know that someone died there last year because they hit the back barrier of the waterslide too hard? It is badly designed.

No I wasn't Rufus, thanks for bringing it to my attention though.

I must admit that I am no expert when it comes to construction methods and design specs but it did seem a little rustic from memory.

All I can say is that they seemed to be very heavily staffed with life guards when we visited, perhaps that tragic accident had something to do with it.
