On the grapevine, so unable to confirm. Heard yesterday another victim of Thai girls extorting money from farang. Apparently there is a 70 year old American running around town, looking for his bride of 2 weeks that has dissappeared along with a new pickup and one million from his bank account.TIT

S--t, not again. I know of several similar scenarios myself. It makes you wonder, have these farangs traded in their brains for sawdust, or something else (maybe Viagra). Does nobody exercise any caution and protect themselves? Where do they meet these girls? Dare I ask?

It also makes you think, on what sort of scale are things like this occurring? They seem to be all too frequent. Do they only happen in Udon, (I doubt it) or is it happening all over Thailand, wherever these girls come from. I realise that most of the girls come from Issan. It certainly doesn't give Udon a good name or reputation.

It still amazes me a bit that these people do not seem to apply the same basic criteria that they surely would if they were on home turf before committing anything. Even, that is, if they choose to ignore "warnings".

I dunno, bad news makes news I suppose. On the up side I went (bosses orders) to a wedding party on Saturday, thus missing the forumites meeting (guess where I would rather be :( ). There was a success story, 3 years or so before taking the major step and a happy and very complimentary farang/thai couple. It is possible, for those that doubt it
