One-year permits to stay for retirees
I am due to renew my retirement visa on June 29 and have read that the medical certificate is no longer required.

Will you please tell me exactly what I need to bring with me to the Phuket Immigration Office on June 29.

Showing the money spent in Thaland that is a new one to me, maybe that is why they want to see the copies of the bank Book.

Correct Ray. I renewed at Nong Khai in April and failed to bring my bank books although I had letters from each of the banks. Had to return the following day with the bank books in addition to the bank letters. Other than this faux pas, everything went smoothly.

another reason for the bank book, is to make sure you're not using the same money, withdraw/deposit, so they can see the whole account, not just deposit and balance, but to insure it is a working account.

It's been a while but as I recall I opened my first account on a tourist visa.

Remember you have to get the Non O or B out of country. I had to r take trip to Loa since I could not open the account to qaulify while in the states. My understanding is there are places in the states where you can do that. in L.A. and New York.

But thats not the route I went so not sure. The figures you posted are for a single guy.

I was single at the time what they had me do was a the tourist visa for ninety day and then convert toa non O after that ran it's course then I applied for and recieved the annual, That's been a long time ago so maybe some with more recent experience would be a better source.

Note it is in relation to Phuket Immigration Office!

Things which I spotted of particular note were:-

4.1 In case of applicant applying for permit to stay on the basis of receiving income while staying in Thailand (as listed in 3.1), the documents must be issued by the original source less than one month before the application date.

Thus it would not be acceptable to them to produce a previous year's confirmation of income letter, or indeed a copy.

and

4.2 In case of applicant applying for permit to stay on the basis of having 800,000 baht in a Thai bank account, applicants must provide a letter from the Thai bank and a copy of the bankbook showing the three months before the application date, proving that there is 800,000 in the account

4.3 In case of applicant applying for permit to stay on the basis of a combination of income and money deposited in a Thai bank account (see 3.3), applicants must show documents according to requirements listed in 4.2 and 4.3.

So in this latter scenario, (where a mix of money and income is being used), the money must have been in the account at least 3 months previously. Though I suppose that is logical.
