Designer, I have seen them about in Thailand (Opel Corsa), but am not sure they are a current model any longer. I believe they have long since been replaced in the UK by a new model. (Maybe Beer Monkey can confirm that). Otherwise I don't have any knowledge of their value or availability of spares in Thailand.

I think upon reflection (IMHO) I would wait and buy something comparable when you are here and settled down, and something which is made and popular here e.g. a Honda Jazz, so that service and spares etc are readily available and inexpensive.

I agree with arjay. There are no service centres for Opal any more (although yo may have some luck using Chevy) and the difficulty in finding spares coupled with the cost would probably make you wish you'd bought a 'local' car.

agree, forget the Opal its a little odd ball for Thailand there was showrooms in bangers many years back but sure they faded out,I would think about a small Honda/Toyota wouldn't know prices to buy in SA or how old a vehicle you want also AC is a must which i would think it will have anyway, also add shipping costs and it wouldn't surprize me if you had to jump through hoops bringing in a personal import., weigh up costs of both inc headaches and you will find an answer with-in yourself. :-k
