Original vs. copy of income statement

PostAuthor: BKKSTAN » August 15, 2006, 11:01 am

Last year,I renewed my visa in Bangkok, using the Income statement and letter from the bank. They insisted on keeping the original of the income statement.I read that others had only to show the original while submitting a copy when renewing in NK.This allowed them to use the same original year to year.

Since I still need to go to BKK for my letter from the bank,I do my visa there too.But if NK accepts copies of the IS,I would rather extend here in NK,saving a yearly visit to the embassy.I can always move my bank acct. to NK.

Has anyone renewed ,recently, using a copy of the IS?

Yes , last month. The original and a certified translation had to be shown, but a copy was accepted for retention., by immigration at AEK.

Stan, I am in a similar position. Last year they took my original letter from the embassy confirming my income, so this year I have had to get another. So this year I plan to show them the original, but give them a copy (in fact a copy of everything).

Last year I didn't have, and wasn't asked for, a translation of it, so I don't propose to get it translated this year either.

I tried to give them the copy last year!Showing them the original and informing them that I was ''told'' that I could keep the original !( I didn't tell them that it was the NK immigration office that let you keep the original,as I did not want to mess up that arrangement for anyone else, including myself in the future)! All I got was a shake of the head and ''no no no,must have the original''!
There is one immigration lady that seems ''overly friendly'' to me for many years now.She always does my paperwork, but last year they streamlined the operation with several people doing the work and I was directed to a different person, although I was getting the ''eye'' from ''my lady''!I wanted to ask her about it,but she had just finished lunch and they were very busy. This year,I will go down a few days early, see if she can help,if not ,I will get a new IS from the embassy and come back to NK for my visa business. Thanks again ,Stan

In that case maybe I will just present a/the copy as the original, and see what is said (without signing it). My copies are quite clear, so maybe they will think it is the original.

I am aware that other Forum members present the 'original' year after year, without it being kept/retained.

I get the feeling it's more a case of whatever they (can) think of at the time, as to whether things (and what things) become an issue.

I have gone to NK immigrations for my second extention of my visa. My TW and I gave them all copies, only original was the bank statement. We had the originals with us, but we didn't show nor even said a word about having them with us. They excepted all the paperwork, since the senior member was in Chang Mai for his mother's funeral, all I got was a 30 day extention until he returns. He is the only one who can give a year extention on the spot, or at least that's what they told us. So will have to return at the end of this month again to get the year extention approval on the spot, I hope.
