Passport running out of pages?

PostAuthor: STARS » March 11, 2008, 12:45 pm

My passport is stamped to heck from border runs. It looks like there is 2 pages left.If they paste another Laos Visa and stamp the next departure- entry/re-entry stamps in it, it looks like it is gone, except for the un-numbered back cover inside.
What to do?? I am new at this stuff.
Is there any way to get more pages for my passport without the hassle of making a long trip to the US Embassy in Bangkok?

Simple answer is no,maybe you can pretend you have lost it and apply to the nearest consulate for a replacement, just photocopy as much as possible before this pretence.
Why stay in Thailand longtime with continuous border runs, yearly visas save on stress and pages.

Stars I believe that the US embassy make regular (3/4 times a year) trips to Issan just to do this sort of thing. If you search the site I am sure you will find details of the last trip.
As a Brit we do not have this service, but, I am reliably informed, it is possible to use the postal system (recorded of course) to obtain a new Passport from BKK.

I did my in the states but if I had to do it here I would make the trip to BKK U.S.Embassy for reason that it might get lost in route or delayed at the embassy and this document we have to have in our possesion is vital so I would not take any chances. the inconvenence and expense you might experence now will be a lot cheaper if some thing should happen going the other route IMHO

I think they were in Udon a couple of weeks ago, Bangkok is only an hour away so no big deal. Think long and hard before you lie to your Embassy, best to just get a new one. Twelve month non immo from Laos should be your best bet, but I'm sure some of your country men will help with this one.

As I read Bob post and check it. It said it does not ad pages at this time you will have to go to the Embassy in BKK suggestion bring a 100.00 USD or you will pay more in thai baht there rate is 40 to 1 from my own experence

True Ron, but, from the way I read it, they will provide a
Passport renewal applications ($67.00 or Baht 2546 for adult passports,
.
I would think this would be the easiest route for Stars to go...
Even though someone has to pick it up from the US embassy in BKK - that does not need to be Stars, just someone that has a letter of authorisation from him...
It does also mention mailing back....but that seemed to be 'in the pipeline' in December..

Stars,

First get yourself over to Vientiane. Go the US Embassy and get pages added to your passport...it's free. Then get yourself over to the Thai consulate and get yourself a proper visa. You can apply for an Imm "O" based on marriage.

You need 2 nights and 3 days to accomplished the above. Adding pages only takes about and hour, that's day 1. Following morning go to Thai consulate and apply for visa and the day after that pick up passport and your done.

Here are the links, each site allows you to download applications you need to accomplish the task.

If you got more questions or not clear on something post it here or PM me.

Yes, you can have pages added at the consulate in Bangkok. You will have to go there to have it done. Less expensive than going all the way to Viet Nam, but then again, you do a visa run to Viet Nam and have pages added to your passport.

"NOTE: Unfortunately, we are no longer able to complete processing of
extra visa pages during our outreach trips, although we are working on a
solution that will allow us to do this. We can accept passport
applications, but the passports will have to be brought back to the
Embassy for final processing the next day. The passports will then have
to be picked up in person (or by a friend upon presentation of a letter
of authorization signed by the applicant) at the Embassy. We regret any
inconvenience caused by this change in procedure, and we are working on
finding a secure solution to mail passports back to applicants from
outreaches. You can now have your passport mailed back to you if you
apply at the embassy. "

Why go all the way to Vietnam when he can accomplish the same thing in Vientiane.

as I read the post please excuse my ignorance but where did Vietnam come in to play
Papa guido gave you the best answer go to lao and get it done at the US Embassy there
for one it a big plus no body visit that embassy it never crowded plus it closer to udon Thani
second it would be worth the wait and stay over a few days and leave with your passport in your hand completed and no fears of the mail AMEN

Bob, You tend to stay right on top of things here at udonmap. Thanks for your good inputs.
Yesterday I tried to download the forms to try and do this by postal mail, and at the end of filling it all out my computer system was not able to handle their rendered services to print it out. The other thing was a note at the end of it all stating the address to send it to was in the US, and that they would not do anything outside the US in the postal mail.

I will have to email to the ACS in Bangkok to find out if it is possible to get the new pages for the passport through the postal mail. I was hoping to be able to do this.

I found that papaguido's advice in the matter is the route that I will take at this time since I am going to have to go to Vientiane soon anyway to have the next 3 month segment of my 0 visa activated.

Thanks for your help Bob,
Stars

You know, you guys are funny?
You make me feel right back at home.
Why don't you tell me to fly to Singapore because it is such a nice place to have fun, and go to the Embassy there??
Thanks for a laugh, I need it.
