Patient skips ?town?

PostAuthor: parrot » May 28, 2008, 1:03 pm

John, the international rep at Paolo Hospital, mentioned a 31 year old British citizen who was admitted for multiple stab wounds on his arm and elsewhere. The rep said the fight was gang related. Unfortunately for Paolo, the patient skipped out before he paid his 71k Baht bill. John has a copy of the passport and reported the incident to Tourist Police. According to John, the TP said they are about to crack down on vagrant-foreigners in town who have been causing trouble.

Parrot....British citizen....gang related...
What is going on here?? Seems to imply that he was in Udon to "do business" rather than just a holiday. Don't think Paolo will go bust over 71K - personally I am just glad he fled & hopefully long gone from Thailand never to return...

Unfortunately, it's the rotten durian at the bottom of the bamboo basket that will make life more difficult for more law-abiding residents such as you and me.

I remember a thread not soooo long ago, I believe Ray23 instigated it, about the good-ole-days when you'd pass an unfamiliar foreigner in the Complex and strike up a conversation with him/her, well, just because he/she was a foreigner and there weren't so many around. Sigh (sic) of the times. Whatever became of Ray23?

what i heard whilst out on my monthly beano on sunday was this. ken at the lucky bar, which was my first port of call so dont think i was too moaw. ken told me that i think it was friday a guy called paul, small cockney guy with tatoos and a squeeky voice, was attacked outside his bar by about 3 young thai guys, one wieldind a machette. he (paul) was cut across the nose and under his left arm . ken took him across the road to the hospital and apparently he needed lots of stitches and suffered large blood loss, most of it in lucky bar, where he ran to escape the attack. the story goes that he had , had an argument with a girl , or refused to pay his bill in the orange bar earlier that evening, but i think nobody knows for sure. what worries me is how safe is it now to be out and about in udon alone at night. since living in thailand ive never felt intimidated or threatened in any way, even in the back steets of bangkok, i felt safer than i did in my home town. but this story has made me take stock a little bit.

Worry about being admitted without having a wad of cash in my pocket is why my wife and I now have health and accident insurance. What a pain.

The previous thread shows these guys had been in trouble many times before October 2007.
That was nearly eight months ago ! What type of visa are they on ? Cant be Non Immigrant Multi entry O as they are only in their thirties.
Maybe they are doing 3 months in Thailand then 3 months in Cambodia or Laos ?
But the October post says they were living in Romyen........isnt that where our revered Sir Bob Helm lives ?
Do you know these guys,Bob ? Invited them round to your place for cocktails yet ?
Better lock up the TV,Video,Computer.....and the missus ! :D :D

John at paulo should know that when a foreigner is admitted to hospital,he forfiets his passport .I have stayed in cheap hotels in Thailand that require this,I dont like it ,but the alternative is go somewhere else.I hope they catch him at a border trying to leave the country.
Even when renting a motorcycle,ya get it back when we get the bike back.Learn anything.?

Thankfully Zidane Romyen is quite a large site & so I have not had the (dubious) pleasure of meeting them here  However I do believe that I did see them in Soi Falang a couple of times. I thought I was told they were living in a hotel (at the cheaper end of the market) near the centre of Udon at that time. I believe that the one brother was living out here almost full time while the other just came out now & again.
You certainly can get a multiple entry non imm O in the UK (Purpose of visit - to visit family & friends) at any age. But the "Dream Team" thread was October 2006 so who knows??

Sorry,Bob...your right October 2006 not 2007,as I thought.
Bloody hell thats 20 months ago and they are still around.Makes a bit of a mockery of the decent guys struggling to get a retirement or marriage visa !

I did think the Non Immigrant you had to be over 50,unless for business, but maybe that just applies to Retirement or Marriage if you see what I mean ?

I'll bow to your superior knowledge.Maybe I should stick to the Football Forum in the future !

Ha,ha, Zidane - I think Irish Alan would be happy if you stopped posting on the Football Forum :D :D
No I have a friend in Udon who is 40 & on a non imm O which is how I know. But, more to the point, I wonder if (after 20 months here) he is still on SS in the UK :( - but I guess that was the subject of a previous post here which cause a bit of a controversy to say the least!!
