Not sure what sort of wedding party you will get for under 10k in a function room, what about in the 'family home'...music/food/drink thats what most would be happy with i am sure and if are on a small budget this could be the answer...may turn out at extra baht what ever you do though....or go out to a restaurant and foot the bill, how many people you expect to be coming...?

That thought never crossed my mind....why even mention it.... Image

what size wedding party are we talking about, how many total people, real total, or add 25 % for non invites. plenty of private parties to be arranged or just a buffet, per person, plus alcohol. :-k

The Grand certainly do wedding receptions, but I think that tends to be on a grand scale as well (excuse the pun).
I am sure that in the current economic climate there would be many (probably make that "any") bars and restaurants that would be willing to close its doors for the night for a private party of 50. However you probably need to be physically in Udon to do that - so you can see the places available and talk to the owner of a place that you think looks acceptable. There is plenty of choice for you in Udon itself and even more in the surrounding neighbourhood.

We had a birthday party at the Grand Chareon Hotel buffet room during lunchtime for 50 people for about 10,000 baht!I don't see why that wouldn't work for a wedding reception as long as you are not expecting music and dancing!

If you don't mind an outdoor restaurant, you could try the Bung Mai Hom restaurant. The food is excellent, has live band and is situated on the edge of Nong Lek (map ref W-11). The place is large and I'm sure they can accommodate your wedding reception. No buffet, but you might be able to make arrangements to cater your event.

!st, Congratulations lady!!!! I wish you and your husband all the best.

This is a suggestion only! Thais love to party. My son who grew up in the US took his wife to Thailand for a Thai wedding. We actually turned it over to the family in Thailand and told them how much we were willing to spend and it all went real well. Not only did they get married the Thai traditional way but then the Issan way as well. Some of our family from the US came as well and we had a great time. This was done in the village with the family home as well as the Wat involved.

Wish you well in what ever you decide.

You could try the Charoen hotel (as opposed to the Charoensri Grand) which is about 10 minutes walk from the shopping mall.I know they cater for weddings and also have a nice outdoor restaurant overlooking a lake. There is also the Yellow Bird on site which has a disco and live band on till 1am if some of you wanted to party later.
Whatever you choose good luck and much happiness to you and your husband.Enjoy your special day.

Heavenlynz.
as I'm an Aussie I cannot understand why you are not doing what 1/2 of NZ has done and move to Oz. \:D/
Seriously, congrats on the marriage. I wish both the best of good times. It is a big step.

I was in Jingoes this afternoon and they were preparing to cater a wedding party in their grounds tonight.

I also attended the wedding of Ross and Beena?? there a few months ago. It was handled very well.

wow congrat to you beautiful bride!! I 'd recomend you to "Rabianpatchani restaurant which near the Nong prajak park " (ร้านระเบียงพัชนี) This restaurant is well known for the local udon as they serve very good standard thai and isan food. My aunty had a small married with about 30 people there 3 years ago. Both the food and the price was GOOD :) good luck <3 <3 <3
