Plug in or not ?

PostAuthor: Paul » December 12, 2005, 2:14 pm

Hmmm - how can i put this.
I like to listen to music and the internet has a lot available through many 'various sources!'

lately many songs and music videos have been in a format that media player will not recognise and I am struggling to find a way to play them. I have written down the most popular 'new' formats which I cannot play and I would like to know if i need to 'enable' something or download a 'plug in' or what?

The files are avi, wmv, mov, mpg, asf, and asx

It means absolutely nothing to me.

Thanks

Paul, This is the reply I got when referring your above query to my computer expert friend. He thinks he's telling me, thus it may appear a bit off hand. Anyway see what you make of it.

Rj

"To play every music/video file under the sun go to this webpage
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_L ... c_Pack.htm

download the rather large exe file and install it
You can now play anything that you download.

Also it is an alternative to that useless Quicktime and Real Media BS

Do as it says and uninstall that tosh when it asks as you wont be disappointed.

With media player classic - using the number pad - when you are playing movies you can increase width/height or shrink it, make it full screen or whatever you want to do. those who know only use this codec"

thanks (again) arjay.
Installed the pack and will see what happens next time i download something.

For the record - MSN has behaved itself tonight - I have been on for 4 hours and it hasn't once tried to turn itself off - so your advice looks like it has done the trick (so far)

Thanks
Paul
