Paradise Hotel wasn't my usual haunting place either, Banpaeng. Back in those days it was like the Nana Hotel or Thermae coffeeshops afterhours. I remember going to a party at the pool once and saw lots of folks get tossed into that pool, clothes and all. Also, don't recall any soi katoys in that area back then but wasn't really looking for them.

The Paradise hotel was quite active in May 92. Was one of two hotels contracted for Cobra Gold. The other was Charoen hotel. The officers and senior enlinsted were billeted in the Charoen and we lowly enlisted in the Paradise. Back then they had an door bar by the pool that featured singing Thai women that were also available for "dates". No katoey's, at least not the ones I packaged checked..... :D

Udon back then and now

PostAuthor: FrazeeDK » March 15, 2006, 8:48 pm

Soi Katoey in Udon was located across from the Udon Teacher's College, now the Rajhabat Institute. It was a known hangout for Katoey's way back then.. Now it appears to be pretty much all cafe's and apartments for the Rajhabat students. If you look on the Udon map across from the Rajhabat, it's the street that right by the 7/11 symbol
Yes, Paradise was the last night place where everyone went about 11:30-12:00 at night.. After the Junpen, Golden Horse, Golden Palace, and yes even the scrummy Wolverine closed, scores of samlors would deposit folks at the Paradise Pool. When Paradise got old there was an illegal all night bar called the Lido where folks would party till about 5 AM..

Where is the Sri Udon Hotel? I've heard of the Udon Hotel, Siri Grand etc. It would be nice to know if this place still exists and if they still have a pool.

Thanks for the photo Polehawk.

The streets sure look quiet back then but the pedal saamlaws are still the same.

The streets cerainly had much fewer cars, motorcycles and trucks.. Samors swarmed Udon's streets by the 100's.. Today, they're still around but in the 10's..

see my photos of way back then in the Photo forum...[/img]
