ACER ASPIRE D150-1 N280 (INTEL ATOM) NETBOOK

PostAuthor: laphanphon » March 23, 2009, 8:40 pm

thinking about picking one up tomorrow, anyone have good info or better, have any negative about this exact model, new and available here, not in usa yet. new entry model, good price, thai keyboard for little one, as she will eventually need for school. researched all the sites, courious if any hands on experience, as it would be a new purchase for anyone, so hoping for some good luck on this request.

actually concerned about any negative, they have authorized sales and service centers in thailand. which i need ree to decipher

was going to order 150/n270 version from usa, but a few complaints about pixel problems on monitor, so that and distance, and available return/ship, via purchaser scared my away, good thing, since new version, available here. did pick up a ASUS EEE PC1000HE at nice price from usa, delivered in couple months, happy with that purchase, as highly rated and excellent price. been researching these for awhile, and this is a new chip.

any thoughts good or bad appreciated, but please, none about the ASUS, already bought, don't bum me out, but i thinnk i did my research, good machine/great price, with it's limits, still a netbook, but exactly what i want.

THANKS IN ADVANCE

Not sure about the Acer, do know it is out of Taiwan. ASUS is pretty good, shouldn't any problems with it. ASUS has quality mother boards, only had one bum out on me in the last 4 yrs, out of 20 computers. The newer Acer laptop 150/n280 may have fixed what was wrong with the 150/n27, making it a better computer.

280 supposed to be a marked improvement, though i'm always leary about being the guinea pig. but already bought and paid for, so one's mute. tho reassuring,   only been to the shop 1000 times and didn't notice the brand name   8)

A good friend who is a mobile computer engineer says most asus and acer laptops have a problem with the power input pin being badly designed and cheap. After many repeat call outs to repair the fault it always results in a new board which becomes an expensive problem.

LA, check at BD Computers or 108IT, they have other computers besides Acers.

at nakhon sawan now, saw it, like it. researched acer a bit, (thanks JK for heads up) most power, DOA, were posted a while back, still looking, but no extreme negatives that i can see so far. like buying it here, int'l warr, and authorized sales and service available. should be real windows, which i will verify before leaving shop. trying to talk myself out of it, but haven't yet

Looks like a nice spec machine (see below), too early to pick any faults with it though LA.

Like you mentioned, genuine XP installed is a nice option along with the international warranty.

I think the problem that Juan mentioned about the power input socket has been rectified, I have not heard of any major problems with Acer's for over a year or so now, but don't quote me on it.

How much are you paying for it if you don't mind me asking?

my thoughts also, the pixel thing, and from states is the only reason i procrastinated so far, and that is turning out to be a good thing, since they seem to think the N280 is a nice upgrade from N270, more RAM and HD offerings as usual. and next year, this will be obsolete, but more than she'll ever need for quite some time. thanks.

comes w/3cell batt, not sure how much the 6 cell will add to price, not major importance, she could always use the asus for movie on road trip. should be good for couple movies. amazing batt life with that one, if gizmos on off.

hey Butcher, check this one out. special delivery from usa, but not for a while. things are so much cheaper there.

the acer n270 are running 12+ K baht in usa, here 17 k, but N280, oops, don't forget that free carry bag, 3500 baht value

Bought an Acer Aspire One (N270) for my oldest daughter one month ago. Very happy with it. Have used it on the road for the last 3 weeks. Windows XP, 1 GB RAM, 160 GB HDD, with carrying case and external mouse, external drive extra.

the price here and it's a straight up Acer promo, all there paperwork, and every shop in the mall has the same machine for same price, w/flyer. 17K, for the N280, all the N270 have dropped to shy of 15 k inclusive. think they're pushing the new N280 hard before the new ASUS hits the market. as better machine, i think, bit cheaper, well, alot cheaper, but from states, and amazing battery life. can up to 2 gig ram for 1500 baht, kingston upgrade, so that's good, and adding up.......

Pricing along with the returns policies of the western world are probably what I miss most here in los.

The Acer does look like a good buy though, best of luck with the decision making :)
