Ok La, as you have helped me in the past I will do you a favor in return.

By buying this Acer, you will then have to purchase a new house out in the sticks as it is made for the country and not city where you will just carry it around on your 125 and most likely drop it or get it wet.

Kind of lame but maybe.

I bought the acer one ZG5 for $330 the first thing that went was the battery, Acer sent a new one and the old one was sent back for free. Its a nice machine, very fast, very small.

Apperently the battery is an issue, the call center guy said they were backordered.

ok, big surprise, i picked it up yesterday..............it is way too cool. can highly recommend one. acer and asus have excellent track records, so hoping for good uneventful life. keyboard is fine, couple keys in different place, but typing is fine, little more aiming, as my ring finger is a 12, so not exactly small fingers, so they say. been testing the hell out of it, wifi is excellent, bluetooth works fine, if i could actually figure it out, found out i had a password on my phone's  bluetooth, and thought of it, but did something wrong or was trying to do something i have a clue about. screen size 10 in, is fine, not need to scroll left or right to read pages, so hassle free, that and keyboard was something i was concerned about. naturally the speakers suck, impossible to make good ones that small or lite, but don't understand the complaint of reviews about headphones, think they need to invest in better ones, mine sound just as good as on any other player. nice touch pad also, HP is too sensitive, open pages i didn't intend to, asus gets bad review on touchpad also, for same, sensitive, but i'll use a mouse anyway, makes things much easier. has bluetooth, so maybe try a bluetooth mouse unless any complaints about them out there. i have a wireless mouse that is junk, good for 12 inchs away, though advertised 2 meters, and eats batteries up. so screw them.

got a 'special offering' from comp shop, ms office, for life, guess i won't be needing that trial offer, also, anti virus for life, well, as long as that shop is in existence, as they added on the laptop, since business account, guess they have unlimited access and added machines. so they were nice, makes up for thai pricing. little one is happy, more her toy, has thai keyboard. loaded up my map software, so when on the fly like now, easy access and battery life for in car use of mapping software. that free carry bag is quite nice also. cam works fine, tho only .3 meg, other are 1.3 on 17 and one coming later. did verify genuine windows before leaving shop, tho didn't verify ms office

so very happy with it. thanks for the heads up, help, advice...................and i'll try not to drop it out of the motorbike, with that spiffy bag, i'll need to fall off also. haven't been dumb enough to try to carry 17 in laptop on bike, that would be suicidal.

good news or bad news, now i can post all day long from anywhere, glen's, NPJ park, nobi's..........yea right...........surf's up.

nice thread, keep it going, advice and suggestions of other machines we like, and need to stay away from. you already know by now, i'm an hp fan, looks like i'll be an acer fan, and hopefully an asus fan. think we have enough toys for awhile. one for everyone now. christ, there goes the electic bill, oh that's right, we live in thailand \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/ \:D/

I just read your thread and was wondering what store you purchased the d150 at and what was the price they gave you? I noticed online at http://www.officeezy.com/index.aspx?Pro ... 0140448564 they are selling them online at 13.900 Baht. I look in the Hardware house magazine and didn't see it listed there, but maybe I need to ask. They only list the A150. Anyhow, any info would be helpful, also.. do you still like it????

Thanks

got ours over at nakan sawan, i think, at acer dealer store. still like it, up to expectations, nice, very portable, 2hr battery minimun using wifi, longer if not using wifi. did notice a slight price drop when in bkk, but not much. make sure the one you are looking at has next chip, n280, as the 270 have dropped considerably. what the difference is, i couldn't tell you, but reviews at sites i use, all say 280 much better. the asus has arrived in thailand, fairly twin machines, with exception of battery life, advertise up to 9.5 hr without bells and whistles on. i won't receive mine for about 2 weeks, tho had i known the asus would arrive that soon, i may have waited, as it is cheap, w/longer battery life. the person bringing it to me, fully charged it, then took it off power, and batter was a bit less than 30 % after 8 hrs, so their promo is far off. with wifi, i would expect near 6 hrs, more than i'll ever need.

that's a decent price on the website, tho doesn't include tax. i noticed in bkk, they started coming down, then i noticed the asus for sale, cheaper and w/longer battery life. isn't competition great.

Thanks for the information that is very helpful. The Asus is one that I was looking at as well, but have not found it anywhere. I will be going to Chiang mai so hoping to find one there. I also read about the N280 and it said it is a better chip but it was suppose to be paired with the GN40 chipset, but most of the manufactures have not used the GN40 chipset yet, so the it isn't that much better than the n270.

In our mall we have only one option in stock (the D150) and it is 14800 after vat. It is frustrating to look online and see many options around the world, but none here. Hopefully chiang mai will be better. Thanks for the help.
