Prenatal & birthing recommendations?

PostAuthor: tamada » February 8, 2008, 12:46 am

The wife is due with our first in late April. We plan on moving to the new house in Udon early in March.

Has anyone got any recommendations for pre-natal and maternity care in Udon? We would appreciate any direct experiences versus anecdotal tales of woe. She is getting tip-top ob-gyn care right now in Pattaya so no problems are foreseen.

I had some mild gastro-intestinal issues handily taken care of at AEK about 3 months ago and from my experience, they seem a competent lot. But having a baby is another ball game so any advice, positive or negative would be appreciated.

Many thanks.

My daughter was born at Udon General Hospital (next to Nong Prajak Park).
Private V.I.P. suite on the top floor...
Doctor Maytah (unsure of correct spelling) and his wife work as a team, they have a clinic down a cul de sac soi opposite Udon museum.
Less than half the price of AEK, and service was superb... very caring.
At 20 week ultrasound they made a 20 minute DVD scan of our unborn baby,
(as opposed to the normal blurry still pic)...

Highly recommended... =D>

Just an update.

Jameson Lewis McDonald was delivered at 14:02 on 24th April. Mum and son are absolutely super while dad tries frantically to finish the kitchen between nappy washes and making up bottles.

The service and staff at AEK were second to none IMHO. Never once did our ob-gyn suggest a cesarean delivery despite Jameson weighing in a 3.9kg. This was very reassuring considering the tales of pregnant mums being pressured in a C-section due to the general assumption that a farang baby is too big. She was admitted at 9 am, in the delivery room at 13:50 and 12 minutes and 3 'pushes' later, there he was.
